Even during the Biden-Harris administration, some Dems were urgently muttering about the need to force out Justice Sonia Sotomayor the way that they had forced out Justice Breyer. The alleged issue was that Sotomayor had some possible health problems, but the real issue was that she was aging and they wanted a justice who could give them an added twenty years.
All they have to do is force out one “Wise Latina”.
What was a muted campaign is now a state of full-blown hysteria after Trump’s victory and the loss of the Senate. The odds of Dems being able to both boot out Sotomayor and force her replacement through the Senate are slim, but lefties don’t give up easily. They’re scrambling to figure out what it would take to convince Sotomayor to leave, what to offer her, including naming her replacement, and how to best rush the nomination through.
Some of the plans, like nominating Kamala, are clearly nonsensical and mostly useless. I doubt Kamala would even want the job (she would be completely unprepared for it also), nor is there any reason to think Sotomayor would step down specifically for her.
And at the moment the Dems are in a state of chaos that they probably couldn’t pull this off.
Even assuming they can get Sen. Manchin on board, after hounding him out of office, and get Sotomayor on board, what if Biden falls asleep in the middle of the nomination? Will Kamala nominate herself to the Supreme Court? And then cast a tie-breaking vote for her own nomination
It would be truly historic.
That said, one thing the Biden-Harris admin did was stack the deck with a whole lot of radical judges. And they’re not done yet.
Optics – As liberals castigate Latinos for not voting for Harris in the same numbers that they did for Biden, plotting begins to remove the “wise Latina”. What would that say about the left’s identity politics? We care more about your vote than we do about you. If they do manage to replace her, it will be with another Latina. Sorry Kamala. No lifetime check for you.

Democrats are delusional if they think they could nominate and confirm a Supreme Court replacement in the time they have left before Republicans assume control of the Senate. Aside from the press of other business, nothing will get done during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years breaks. Not happening.
The Democrat PACs lost the election and now they want to play Pac-Man eating their own. They are the party of human sacrifice. If they don’t get others, they get themselves.
Um….just exactly how do you “force out” a Supreme Court Justice ? I want to hear this. The only Justice to be impeached was Associate Justice Samuel Chase in 1805. He was impeached on the grounds of letting his partisan leanings affect his court decisions, but was acquitted the following year by the Senate and remained in office. So no Supreme Court Justice in history has been “forced out” What is the problem the leftist have with Sotomayor ? It is the “wise Latino” turned out to be so unaccomplished ,so incompetent, so incapable of arguing her points with the likes of that real Constitutional Scholar Clarence Thomas that she is now considered a failure for the left? Guess the best she could do was leak the draft opinion of Alito on over turning Roe V. Wade.
I think they pressured Breyer into resigning, even had a billboard truck driving around the SCOTUS building over and over while it was in session. This failed with RBG though.
What we’ve learned from this particular four year cycle is that Democrats aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer.
They dropped Biden like a hot rock and coronated Kamala once their lie about how uber-cogent Joe was…and we see how well that worked out for them.
I guess I hope Democrats give it a whirl…because nothing shows how important their race-based politics is to them quite like trying to kick an esteemed Latina woman off the highest court in the land, surely clinching the Latino vote for Republicans in perpetuity.

This whole changing of times, laws, and protocols, forcing out Supreme Court Justices before they are ready to retire must be stopped. We have people who just want power and control, they don’t care about the welfare of the country.
