Unlike all the Democrat/Media claims about “disinformation”, the argument in DHS Acting Secretary Chad Wolf’s letter is pretty straightforward.

Key national security government officials need a reliable channel for communicating with Americans, without unexpectedly being censored by some purplehair in a San Francisco office who is personally offended by the existence of the nation and its security. 

“Twitter’s conduct of censoring U.S. government officials also endangers national security. It is dangerous and damaging when any publisher arbitrarily and unfoundedly decides, as it did here, that the facts and policies of a particular Presidential Administration constitute “violence”—in order to censor them. And in the case of Twitter, this can cut off an essential mode of communication between U.S. Government officials and the public.”

SOP in broadcasting was that government officials had the right to communicate with the public on important issues. That meant if the president addressed the nation, the broadcast had to go on even if MASH, Seinfeld, or today’s current Desperate Effort to Appeal to Millennials Who Don’t Watch Us is on.

DHS isn’t going that far here. It is saying that Twitter censorship endangers security communications. If an emergency arises, officials need to be able to know they can communicate with the public.

Twitter, meanwhile, is allowing Iranian and Malaysian government officials to call for murder, while repeatedly censoring Republican officials in America because of who they are.

It’s time for this to stop.
