Did the Boston bombings have to happen? They might not have happened at all if not for Obama’s history of weakening immigration enforcement on violent foreign criminals.
The Obama administration’s new administrative amnesty apparently directs ICE to wait until an illegal alien commits a serious crime or two before considering deportation. Similarly, according to the administration’s latest 287(g) enforcement scheme, Americans must fall victim to “murder, manslaughter, rape, robbery, and/or kidnapping” before the alien perpetrator becomes a high priority for deportation. Generally, illegal immigrants arrested by state and local law enforcement for crimes like ID theft, public intoxication, and DUI are released back out onto the streets rather than deported.
Now let’s go to Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the dead bomber who didn’t have a single American friend, but did have a domestic violence conviction.
“One of the Chechen terrorists who carried out the Boston Marathon bombings could have been deported years ago after a criminal conviction and the other was granted American citizenship on the 11th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
“Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the 26-year-old killed in a wild shootout with police, was a legal U.S. resident who nevertheless could have been removed from the country after a 2009 domestic violence conviction, according to a Judicial Watch source. That means the Obama administration missed an opportunity to deport Tsarnaev but evidently didn’t feel he represented a big enough threat.”
Obama spouted off about the War on Women when he was trying to get elected, but lax immigration enforcement of foreign criminals who abused women kept a Muslim guilty of domestic violence in this country.
Tamerlan was a legal resident and his conviction predated the latest phase of Obama’s immigration pandering mentioned above, but once he was exposed as a violent criminal, there was no longer any reason to allow him to remain in the United States.
Domestic violence convictions are legal grounds for deportation of resident aliens. Unfortunately Obama’s repeated refusal to enforce immigration laws badly demoralized ICE and led to violent criminals remaining in the country and killing Americans.
Tamerlan was the worst of these criminals… but not the only one.
Obama went to Boston and read some words off a teleprompter. It would have been better if he had done the right thing all along so that the speeches would not have been needed.
“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction,” Obama wrote in the Audacity of Hope. It might have been better if he had instead stood with domestic violence victims and the runners of the Boston Marathon.
