Officially the reason that the DNC is going with a ‘virtual roll call’ for the Biden nomination is the issue in Ohio. But Gov. DeWine has offered to quickly pass a bill to make sure that Biden will still be on the ballot.
The DNC’s decision to switch to a virtual roll call may be exploiting worries about Ohio, but like the rest of its campaign decisions has more to do with locking in the nomination for Biden while avoiding a floor fight.
Most people refused to believe me when I told them that Biden would run or the party would nominate him. Most people I talk to still believe that Newsom (or even more implausibly Michelle Obama) are going to swoop in at the convention. And while nothing is absolutely impossible including Biden being replaced by Alf, if that were going to happen, it likely would have happened already. Democrats had plenty of time to get it done.
A completely panicked convention move isn’t impossible, but it would more likely come from leftists trying to force more concessions than from a motivated party coup. And that’s what this is trying to head off.
If the party or major power players wanted to replace Biden, they’d do it behind the scenes, they would strip away his insiders and aides, communicate to them that their careers will be over unless they tell their boss to step down, and then there would be an official announcement that Biden’s health has taken a turn for the worse. It could still happen, but for now there’s no sign of it.
Biden may be out to lunch, but his people are in control of the DNC (even if not to the same degree as Hillary’s people) and they are going to nominate their man even if he has to be on life support at the convention.
There will still be protests and disruptions at the convention, but with the virtual roll call, it’ll all be theater that will feel hollow and impotent.

Obama doesn’t care who the nominee is because he is confident he can steal the election once again and he will get his fourth term.

And all this silly speculation about others taking it away from him made me wonder if these media nitwits and their nitwit contacts were operating like the English solicitors of old.
