After 8 years of ceaseless lectures about ‘authoritarianism’ and ‘threats to democracy’, we’re discovering what that looks like. The basic question is whether Americans or government workers run the country.
Voters chose Trump and a Republican majority to reduce the size of government. Dems and the media responded with an outcry clamoring that if government workers are offered buy-outs they’ll starve to death in the streets of Washington D.C.
And government unions have gotten a judge to halt the reconstruction of USAID because government workers apparently run the government, not elected officials.
That’s the real issue here.
Do we have a government of the people, by the people and for the people or a government of bureaucrats, by bureaucrats and for the bureaucrats?
I’m against buyouts of government workers, too but for a different reason. None of those criminals deserve golden parachutes for refusing to come into work and many of them are working other jobs while they collect government pay for doing nothing. A crooked D-Bag judge has delayed the buyout till Monday and some type of hearing or something. I keep hoping President Trump will ignore these criminals posing as judges and tell them to try and enforce their illegal orders.
The good news is that USAID is finished. It’s funding has been cut off and it isn’t coming back. It’s only a matter of time before that utterly corrupt organization is shut down for good.
Elon and his team have already uncovered billions upon billions of fraud, waste, insanity and corruption. It’s a good start. I guess it’s like chipping away at a mountain or glacier but if anybody can dynamite the bureaucracy, it’s Trump and Musk.

In “The Protestant Ethic and The Spirit of Capitalism” (1902), German sociologist Max Weber ridiculed such self-serving idiocy: “specialists without spirit, sensualists without heart; this nullity imagines that it has attained a level of civilization never before achieved.”
Fukyomama and his stupid book have been the subject of mockery since it came out.

Another excellent point. Bernard Lewis made a similar point about some Middle East countries after they were conquered by Muslims. The Muslims didn’t know how to run the countries, so the bureaucrats quietly stayed in place, collecting taxes for their new Muslim overlords, etc.

Wealthy Islamic countries currently import foreign workers and have since their founding. And the domestic servants are all women and all rape toys who are regularly beaten.
