Like some of the other candidates in the race, whose appeal is exclusively to white urban hipsters and suburban middle class lefties, Senator Elizabeth Warren has a black people problem. It’s ironic that Hillary Clinton inherited Bill’s black vote, even, often, when going up against Barack Obama, but Warren, who is an even more annoying version of Hillary, isn’t doing so well with black voters.
Time for a bad idea or two.
Presidential candidates often keep a running list of influential individuals who they will informally call for ideas, advice, and, perhaps, to scope them out as a potential running mate.
And for several candidates, including at least one in the top tier, former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum is on speed dial. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), in particular, has been in contact with Gillum over the past several months, multiple knowledgeable sources told The Daily Beast.
When reached for comment about the vice presidential buzz, a Warren campaign official said, “that is baseless and not at all true.”
Gillum is a baffling choice. But, then again, Booker seems to come off as unstable. Stacey Abrams is focusing on winning state races. And Kamala Harris will try a presidential run again down the road. There’s always Wayne Messam. Right.
The obvious problem with Gillum is that he’s a loser. That and the whole FBI investigation brushing his shirt isn’t exactly a plus.
If Warren were to pick Gillum, Trump would have an obvious target. But maybe that’s what Warren is hoping for. Gillum on his own won’t energize voters. But stake him out like a goat on a hill and then wait for a backlash.
