The fires are still going out here in Los Angeles and new ones are emerging tonight, the Sunset fire and now a fire in Studio City, the air smells of fire and smoke, and the only thing worse is the inept local leadership.
And the level of ineptitude is truly mindblowing.
I wrote an article and a Twitter thread on the wokeness in the LAFD. The article has yet to run, but the Twitter thread offers a sample of the insanity. Wokeness and DEI led to four lesbians, 3 of them named some variation of Kirstin, running one of the nation’s largest fire departments.
The LAFD is very diverse. It’s run by lesbians named Kristin

I ended by writing that, “the old Los Angeles Fire Department was not diverse It was run by white men It’s now run by lesbians named Kirsten The LAFD is much worse at fighting fires, but at least it asks the fires for their pronouns first.”

Think about the fact that lesbians make up approximately 3% of 51% of the population and you end up with no less than 4 of them at the top of one organisation.

I lived in the L.A. basin in the early 1980s for a time, and then a decade later I lived in southwest Washington state for eight years where many Cali expats had moved. One thing I can say is that they uniformly exhibited Ronald Reagan derangement; and, after explaining to me what they were doing now or what they did at one time in California for a living just underlined their gross incompetence.

As an aside, my niece is a captain in CalFire. No idea what factored into her getting the job, but she does have a advanced degree in forestry management and worked on wildfire teams while she was going to school. She at least checked her own boxes.
