I think we all know whose fault this is. Your fault. And mine.
We don’t wear enough masks. We shake hands. We push elevator buttons with our fingers instead of our elbows. Sometimes we don’t remember to put on our masks in between bites of our veal when we eat at the French Laundry.
In short, we’re terrible people.
It’s due entirely to our neglect that these fine public officials who have carefully kept the rules they imposed on us have tested positive. And we must feel very bad about it and accept whatever new restrictions they impose on us in a spirit of regret, guilt, and linguini.
Or, you know, maybe the pols who spent two years scolding and lecturing us, while flouting all the rules, might want to take some responsibility? Nah. Responsibility is for little people, not for the ruling class. If our founding documents tell us anything, it’s that we are led by omnipotent geniuses chosen personally by Allah and that we peasants must never question their integrity or right to rule us.
If they get the Wuhan Virus, it’s our fault. And we should feel bad. Really, really bad.
