The FBI is defying a court order to hand over information from the laptop of Seth Rich, the Democratic National Committee staffer murdered in July of 2016. As The Epoch Times reports, the bureau wants the court to reverse the 53-page ruling of federal judge Amos Mazzant, an Obama appointee. If the court declines, the FBI wants to delay release of the data for 66 years.
That would put the release in 2088, when FBI boss Christopher Wray would be 121 years old, so the 66-year figure is code for “never.” As journalist Jim Hoft explains, “people with nothing to hide don’t try to hide nothing,” so the people have a right to wonder what is going on.
Seth Rich was a digital campaigner with the Democratic National Committee. On July 10, 2016, the 27-year-old was gunned down in Washington DC. Police called it a street robbery gone wrong, but the shooters did not take Rich’s wallet, watch or phone. Weeks after the murder, as the BBC reported, “Wikileaks published 20,000 emails obtained from Democratic National Committee computers via an anonymous source.”
Some observers thought the source might be Seth Rich. Many of the emails dealt with the escapades of Hillary Clinton and showed up on social media. For Democrats it was all part of Trump’s collusion with Russia, and establishment media charged that outlets such as Fox were peddling another conspiracy theory.
Others thought the Russia collusion story could be a dodge to distract attention of the murder of Rich. The FBI showed no interest in the basic questions of motive, means, and opportunity but quickly latched on to Rich’s laptop. Four years later in 2020, the bureau admitted possession of the computer.
Two years later in 2022, with the murder of Rich still unsolved, the FBI wants to delay any release of the material until 2088. While the case plays out in court, the FBI continues to conceal materials from another unsolved murder case.
On February 21, 2020, the body of Philip Haney author of See Something Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad, was “found deceased” in Amador County, California, killed by a gunshot to the chest.
The Amador sheriff, “reached out to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to assist in analyzing documents, phone records, numerous thumb drives and a laptop that were recovered from the scene and Mr. Haney’s RV. Those items and numerous other pieces of evidence, were turned over to the FBI. The FBI has performed a forensic examination of these items. We expect to receive these reports within the next few weeks.”
Two years later, the Amador sheriff reports no new information on the case, and the FBI has yet to reveal what was on Haney’s laptop, thumb drives and such. As with Seth Rich, the material could be of great interest.
In early 2020, according to Kerry Picket in the Washington Examiner, Haney was “recently in contact with top officials about returning to work for the DHS.” So maybe he had new information on terrorists. The erudite Haney was good at finding such information, but it wasn’t always welcome at the Department of Homeland Security.
As Haney explained in The Hill on May 5, 2016, the DHS ordered him “to delete or modify several hundred records of individuals tied to designated Islamist terror groups like Hamas from the important federal database, the Treasury Enforcement Communications System (TECS).” The DHS investigated Haney, revoked his security clearance, and ginned up fake complaints about his job performance.
DHS bosses couldn’t have been too happy about Haney’s book, and terrorists dislike exposure. Even so, the FBI showed no interest in questions of motive, means and opportunity. That marks a stark contrast with other cases.
On January 4, the FBI announced the arrest of Colombian national Mario Antonio Palacios, 43, charged with “conspiracy to commit murder or kidnapping outside the United States and providing material support resulting in death, knowing or intending that such material support would be used to prepare for or carry out the conspiracy to kill or kidnap.” The charges relate to the July 7, 2021, assassination of Haitian president Jovenel Moise in Port-au-Prince.
Here the FBI swiftly arrests a Colombian national for a crime committed in Haiti, a foreign nation. On the other hand, the FBI has made no arrests in the murder of Americans Philip Haney and Seth Rich in their own country. The FBI has their laptops but won’t reveal what they contain.
Rich’s laptop could be the Dead Sea Scrolls of the Russia collusion hoax, which Democrats deployed against candidate and President Trump. Their willing accomplice was the FBI, which mounted covert operations Mid-Year Exam and Crossfire Hurricane. So no surprise that the FBI wants to keep the data locked up forever.
The people have a right to know. At first opportunity, the incoming Congress should launch a full investigation.

Releasing the information may endanger democracy. The sort of democracy that the democrat mafia machine hold dear.
The Mafia at least had a code of conduct. The FBI, not so much.
The dirty fbi. Gone the way of the bad guys
This kind of thing is nothing new, as with the decades-long suppression of material related to the JFK assassination and 9/11. Is this a case of government protecting itself (for any one of a number of possible reasons), or is there some legitimate national security reason, or perhaps an attempt to spare the families of the people involved from unnecessary emotional grief or harassment?
But the Seth Rich case is interesting because the official story is that this was an ordinary, random street crime unrelated to politics. If this is true, there would be no national security angle and the only concern would be to protect the family from unwanted publicity. But if this publicity were to put an end to the various conspiracy theories surrounding Rich’s death, wouldn’t the family welcome that?
The Las Vegas mass murder of innocents is just as suspicious.,. and then there’s the COVID-19 scamdemic.
There is a significant probability that the Las Vegas case has Islamic ties (through the Philippines, for example).
