After Fetterman’s latest hospitalization, his people rushed out a damage control piece in the New York Times which pushes for sympathy while essentially conceding that they lied during the campaign about his competency.
Mr. Fetterman declined to be interviewed for this story. But aides and confidantes describe his introduction to the Senate as a difficult period, filled with unfamiliar duties that are taxing for someone still in recovery: meetings with constituents, attending caucus and committee meetings, appearing in public at White House events and at the State of the Union address, as well as making appearances in Pennsylvania.
The most evident disability is a neurological condition that impairs his hearing. Mr. Fetterman suffers from auditory processing issues, forcing him to rely primarily on a tablet to transcribe what is being said to him. The hearing issues are inconsistent; they often get worse when he is in a stressful or unfamiliar situation. When it’s bad, Mr. Fetterman has described it as trying to make out the muffled voice of the teacher in the “Peanuts” cartoon, whose words could never be deciphered.
While the Times piece focuses heavily on his ability to hear and understand, reading between the lines it’s obvious that he’s also not capable of performing any meaningful duties.
For now, Mr. Fetterman is glad to have a little break from the media glare. Current and former staff members describe him as someone who has no desire to be at the center of every negotiation and who campaigned on a promise to be a solid 51st Democratic vote in the Senate supporting President Biden’s agenda.
Politicians generally don’t ask for less positive attention. He ran as a Bernie Sanders insurgent who would shake things up and fight for his constituents and now that’s been reduced to promising to vote with the party.
Also, barely between the lines, are regular references to psychological issues.
But his adjustment to serving in the Senate has been made vastly more difficult by the strains of his recovery, which left him with a physical impairment and serious mental health challenges that have rendered the transition extraordinarily challenging — even with the accommodations that have been made to help him adapt.
To those people who think that the prep work is underway for him to bow out and someone else, perhaps his wife, to take over, this article would be a pretty straightforward trial balloon followed by an announcement that Fetterman is not up to the onerous challenges of being in the Senate. I don’t know that it will happen, I would hazard a guess that it won’t, but after this article, it’s more plausible. And it’s also clear that what we’ve heard is only the tip of the iceberg about Fetterman’s real condition.
He’s a Democrat, so the mental impairment part is just assumed.
While I understand your cynicism,Fetterman was taken advantage of so The DemonRats could get a Senate Seat!!!
Igor was a willing participent.
It’s the yellow dog democrat syndrome . Goes way back to the Roosevelt era where they would vote for a yellow dog as long as they on The democrat ticket.
I’m just amazed that he got elected because I never thought I’d be shocked ever again as we become desensitized with the left breaking down every normal for
I think we’re all suffering with mental heath “challenges” after listening to Brandon. That’s what I think.
I think you’re right.
Good luck with those “challenges”. Maybe you can get a “vaccine”.
He’s brain damaged and his wife and staff sign his name to official documents, cast his votes etc…..
“Serious Mental Health Challenges” is a qualification factor for the leftists.
Because this was all so predictable, it was part of the plan.
Once again we see the Lunatics running lose and their too dangerous to be on the streets
Fetterman, a personification and representation of the dopes who voted for him.
Basically he sits there but they are worried he might not remember how to vote eventually.
When that Trump moron is victorious over conservatism then we can pay attention to Trump. After not before.
Give up your Trump hatred. It’s going to poison your spleen. You don’t want that and neither do I.
