Government Was Once About Protecting Life and Property – Until the Modern Democrat Party Came Along

Who ya gonna call when your house is on fire – Trump or Biden?

Democrats won’t let the police protect you. Democrats won’t let you protect yourself. Democrats are encouraging the wave of crime and anarchist violence that’s sweeping our cities. So, who ya gonna call when your house is on fire– Trump or Biden? C’mon, man, that’s a rhetorical question.

Thanks to mis-named progressives, government has failed at its essential function – public safety.

At the dawn of history, there were peaceful agricultural communities and barbarians on horseback. The barbarians didn’t sow. They reaped with the sword – much like gangbangers, career criminals and politicians.

The farmers and herdsmen banded together into cities, which they enclosed with walls. Some of them carried spears to defend those walls and keep the barbarians from carrying off their women, crops and sheep.

Hence government.

It worked pretty well, until the post-McGovern Democratic Party came along. “We don’t need walls? What a waste -- and, besides, they’re racist. Common sense spear control, that’s the ticket. Health care will keep the barbarians happy.”

The welfare state has succeeded at pushing people around, arresting them for not wearing masks and maintaining social-distancing, plundering our property, destroying businesses, and promoting barbarism at home and abroad.

Again, it’s failed miserably at the one essential function of government – keeping us safe. That’s why, increasingly, people are exercising their Second Amendment rights.

There were 2 million new gun owners in the first half of 2020. Firearms sales have soared. In April and May, there was a 71.3% increase and an 80.2% increase in total gun sales over the same period last year. Democrats have given us plenty of reasons to head to gun stores for some semi-automatic reassurance.

In 36 of the 50 largest cities in the United States, homicides are up 24% since the beginning of the year. Altogether, there were 3,612 homicides our urban jungles – led by Chicago (433), Philadelphia (243), New York (212), Houston (178) and Los Angeles (157) – all Democrat strongholds. Except for Houston, all are in blue states.

The Democrats’ revolt against law enforcement has had predictable results. Portland calls riots peaceful protests and orders the police to stand down. The Minneapolis City Council wants to abolish its police department and redistribute funding to social services. (It issued instructions on how to surrender your property safely if confronted by criminals.) Mayor Bill De Blasio is cutting $1 billion from New York’s police budget.

While cities go up in flames, Democrats toast marshmallows in the fires.

At an August 4 Senate hearing on anarchist violence, not one Democrat would denounce Antifa. Sen. Mazie Hirono said Republicans were attacking peaceful protests and left in a huff. Sen. Dick Durban went into his First Amendment shuffle – as if firebombs equaled free speech.

Meanwhile on Planet Earth, Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli testified that 140 federal law enforcement officers (Speaker Pelosi calls them Trump’s “storm troopers”) were injured trying to protect a federal courthouse in Portland.

In Chicago, Mayor Laurie Lightweight serves and protects by pandering to the mob, removing statues of Christopher Columbus and pretending it was her idea all along. De Blasio keeps his city safe by painting Black Lives Matter on the sidewalk in front of Trump Tower.

It’s not your father’s Democratic Party -- unless your father was Saul Alinsky. Its answer to the urban crime wave: why, “common sense gun control,” of course. In the cities mentioned above, it’s easier to elect a Republican than get a gun legally.

The St. Louis couple who chose to defend their lives and property with firearms are bring prosecuted by Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner, who confesses, “I am alarmed by the events that occurred…where peaceful protestors (destroying property and shouting threats) were met by guns and a violent assault (self-defense).”

Gardner is tough on self-defense but gentle on crime. Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt says after seeing “police officers being shot, a retired police captain being murdered, people throwing rocks, gasoline and frozen water bottles at police officers, firefighters being assaulted and blocked from doing their job, businesses that have served the community for decades burned to the ground, it’s unfathomable that every single person arrested that night (the first night of rioting) has been released,” by Gardner’s office.

Less of a mystery, perhaps, in light of the fact that Gardner has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Soros Super-PAC in her three campaigns for her current office.

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against the National Rifle Association, accusing the group of corruption.

In the past, the Democrat AG has described the gunowners group (with five million members) as a “criminal enterprise” and a “terrorist organization.” Democrats don’t want the NRA around to defend your Second Amendment rights.

Waiting in the wings if Biden wins is former Texas Rep. Robert Francis "Beto" O’Rourke. The Vice President says O’Rourke (“Hell yes, we’ll take your AR-15”) will be his point man on ending civilian gun ownership piecemeal. Can you feel the noose tightening?

Democrats are hoping the presidential election will be fought on Covid-19, where they and their media lackies can lie about Trump’s record.

I’m hoping the battleground will be crime, domestic terrorism, defund the police, sympathy for the Devil (Antifa and Black Lives Matter) and our inalienable right to self-defense.

In other words, are you safer today than you were before Ted Wheeler, Jenny Durkan and Lorie Lightfoot became household names, and De Blasio subtracted from the sum total of human knowledge every time he opened his mouth?
