Will Europe embrace and defend the freedom of expression or blasphemy laws? And once Europe makes its choice, what will the United States of America do in turn about the same issue? The showdown is coming in Europe, and it’s coming quickly. Last Sunday, Phedon Phedonos, who is the mayor of the city of Paphos in Cyprus, posted a video on Facebook of young Muslim migrants demonstrating in his city. They weren’t protesting over any local issue, but over the burning of a copy of a Qur’an in faraway Sweden. The implications of this are even more far-reaching, for Europe and the entire world.Greek City Times reported Tuesday that Phedonos commented, “The march of young Muslims today in the tourist area of Paphos with the Qu’ran [sic] in hand with obvious religious fanaticism should concern the government and our State and, in general, everyone for the actions that must be taken immediately. History does not forgive mistakes and omissions.”
The demonstrators’ “obvious religious fanaticism” was clear from their cries of “Allahu akbar,” which does not mean “God is great,” as the Western establishment media routinely claims, but rather, “Allah is greater,” that is, greater than your god. It is a declaration of supremacy and the ubiquitous cry of jihad terrorists the world over as they commit acts of violence. 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta reminded himself to “shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.”
Their fanaticism was also evident from the fact that they were demonstrating in Cyprus over something that happened in Sweden. Islamic apologists and their Leftist allies in the West frequently accuse foes of jihad violence of engaging in collective blame of the entire Muslim community for the actions of a few “extremists,” if those foes speak honestly about the Islamic doctrinal roots of jihad violence. But if any collective blaming is actually being done, it’s on the Islamic side. Jihadis and their allies and enablers tend to see all Europeans as Christians and all Christians as responsible for the recent Qur’an-burning in Sweden, which was actually carried out by an Iraqi ex-Muslim named Salwan Momika.
Momika explained, “I want to protest in front of the large mosque in Stockholm, and I want to express my opinion about the Quran… I will tear up and burn it.” He added, “This is democracy. It is in danger if they tell us we can’t do this.” Indeed, Sweden’s Court of Appeal recently declared that burning the Qur’an was a legal form of protest, as part of the nation’s respect for the freedom of expression. That came after the police in Stockholm had stopped an earlier attempt to burn the Islamic holy book, on the grounds that doing so could lead to violence.
The Court of Appeal ruling, however, was not the end of the story. Reuters reported Thursday that the Swedish government is now thinking about making burning the Qur’an illegal after all. Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer explained, “We have to ask ourselves whether the current order is good or whether there is reason to reconsider it.” It had to be reconsidered, he said, because the Qur’an burnings had made Sweden a “prioritized target” for jihad terror attacks. Strömmer observed, “We can see that the Qur’an burning last week has generated threats to our internal security.”
Well, of course it did. But that’s what the police are for. If Sweden upholds the freedom of expression, that should mean that it upholds the freedom of expression precisely when that freedom is threatened. Otherwise, it doesn’t really uphold the freedom of expression at all. And if it doesn’t, it is no longer a free society and is ripe for any tyrant to seize and work his will unhindered, for opposing him will be impossible.
That’s the objective of the 56-nation (plus the Palestinian Authority) Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Reuters reported Sunday that OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha called for Western countries to ban Qur’an burning using laws against hate speech: “We must send constant reminders to the international community regarding the urgent application of international law, which clearly prohibits any advocacy of religious hatred.” This is an unmistakable indication of how “hate speech” laws can be weaponized to compel Western countries to abandon the freedom of expression and submit to Sharia blasphemy laws.
The demonstration in Cyprus is one sign that this issue isn’t going to go away anytime soon. And with the Western political and media elites already having a well-established admiration for authoritarianism and distaste for the freedom of speech, can the acceptance of these demonstrators’ demands, and those of the OIC, be long in coming?
Showdown over. Sweden caved.
If the muslims want to stop people burning their books all they need to do is stop attacking us. Simple really but I’ve never seen an imam condemn a terror attack.
The leftist elites in the UN will call them refugees but they don’t explain why they’re 95% military age men.
Or why they don’t return to Dar al-Islam once whatever crisis allegedly caused them to become “refugees” has ended.
The singleton solution for the presence of Islam is the absence of Islam.
There is no third choice.
This Islamic rage at the defiling of a Qur’an might gain more sympathy if it wasn’t for the fact that Islam treats all other faiths, their sacred texts, and their practitioners like garbage or worse.
The “West” is the stub end of Christendom, not yet devoured by the geopolitical ambition of Islam.
Pirates don’t establish spiritual religions. God has nothing to do with it.
Islam and America’s Democrats share a foundational interest in hoaxes. Hoax is their oxygen.

Meanwhile here in America their trying t o take away our Freedom of Expression claiming it hurts the little feeling of the pathetic little snowflakes they turn out in those Universities
There is no freedom anymore either in Europe or America. It’s over. The North Korean model has prevailed.
Would that we showed a bit of fervor about the burning of our Constitution and way of life.
Likewise, so it is in America. there is a very limited freedom of expression. For example, only a few years ago I discovered that in the Pennsylvania , in its capital city, Harrisburg. In the hospital of that city the security guards are instructed to tell any visitor who is wearing a shirt or hat with anything printed on it about remembering September 11, 2001 to leave the hospital because Muslim work and also visit at that place.
The Muslim influence is clear and obvious less and less freedom of speech is allowed.
By the way, soon after 9/11 the many apologists in America had made the claim that “The terrorists and mass murderers of September 11, weren’t real Muslims but criminals who hijacked the peaceful religion of Islam for politics.” How strange !
Nevertheless, the point being that if and that is “If” that claim is true then Muslim shouldn’t have any objections ,at all to some people wearing “remember September 11, 2001 shirts or hats since no Muslims committed those murderous affronts on that day of 9/11/01
As a limit to freedom of expression the nations of Europe is sad but of no surprise . For even in America ,the country which in accord to the first amendment of the US Constitution which is supposed to guarantee “Freedom of Speech ” such is not always the case.
For example , on 7/8 /23, I remembered that the day before was the 18 anniversary of those murderous jihad train bombings in that London train station that killed 52 people and injured many more on July 7 ,2005.
So put on a tee- shirt that had the words Printed on It “Islam is a religion of pieces “ I then when to the public library in my hometown wearing that shirt , then sat down to keyboard on the computer.
Then to of the librarians, together approached me and told me that my shirt in “inappropriate” that then they told men change or cover my shirt or leave the library.
In response to their demand, I informed my shirt in only a mirror reflection of that deadly Islamic jihadist train bombing which occur on 7/7/05.
The libertarians refused to listen to reason and the logic of that truth and repeated their demand. It’s amazingly terrible how much influence the politically ideology has infected American society , especially when come to “Muslim sensitivities” about revealing an ugly reflection about the reality of their religion.
This shows that “freedom of speech” is diminishing in America.
That London attack took place in Aldgate, they had a history of Aldgate exhibition a little while ago but they didn’t mention the most significant event ever, they have written it out of history, gone never to be mentioned again.
The east end of London is now also majority muslim.
Together, those who foremost target Jews – white and black nationalists as well as the Red-Green alliance of the left and Islamists – are a fundamental threat to America and its values. These radical groups are spearheading efforts to erode the core principles that make our country exceptional, replacing America’s commitment to individual rights and equality, meritocracy, rule of law, tolerance, pluralism, due process, freedom of speech, and free-market capitalism with a racialized and violent world steeped in conspiracy theories and political polarization. There can be no stranger alliance in history than those of the Far Left and so called Liberals and insane islamic teachings as they are in direct opposition to each other and yet the Liberals will happily denigrate the Vatican Christians and Jews but fall over themselves to protect and defend a fascist religious cult that will throw them off the roof top, right after the homosexuals, once islamic sharia takes charge.
