As sure as the sun rises and sets, as bears defecate in undefined wetlands and the IRS audits conservative organizations, the more hysterical brand of Never Trumper will announce he is leaving the GOP and then call for its destruction and the absolute triumph of the left.
Out of their principles. Which you couldn’t find in the Atlantic ocean with a magnifying glass and Diogenes’ lantern.
Now it’s George Will’s turn to call for the triumph of the Democrats. ““The congressional Republican caucuses must be substantially reduced. So substantially that their remnants, reduced to minorities,” he ranted. “to vote against his party’s cowering congressional caucuses is to affirm the nation’s honor while quarantining him. A Democratic-controlled Congress would be a basket of deplorables, but there would be enough Republicans to gum up the Senate’s machinery, keeping the institution as peripheral as it has been under their control and asphyxiating mischief from a Democratic House.”
This is the same boilerplate stuff they were feeding us during the election. Back then, they were telling us that a Republican Senate could checkmate President Hillary Clinton. Now they want to destroy the GOP legislative majority. Sooner or later it should be apparent that what they really want is the absolute triumph of the left. No matter how much they deny it.
Exit question: Are Washington Post Never Trumpers contractually obligated to sooner or later call for the defeat of the GOP?
