Last time around, the GOP had a lot of primary talent, while the Dems were stuck Hillary Clinton with Bernie Sanders as an alternative losing option. This time around the Dems are facing primary elections that everyone wants to leap into like a heated pool on a cold winter day. And I do mean everyone.
That means a whole lot of debates.
Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez on Thursday announced Democrats will hold at least a dozen presidential debates between June 2019 and April 2020.
The announcement is the first of many decisions Perez will make in the coming months regarding the 2020 debate calendar. The former Secretary of Labor during the Obama administration said the national party will sponsor six debates in 2019, six more in 2020, and could potentially extend if the nomination process keeps going into late-spring, according to the Associated Press.
The debates were almost a universal complaint from Republicans about 2016. Now the Dems seem to have a huge debate schedule split up among multiple candidates.
Are they really for the benefit of the voters or so that the Dems can clean away their more recent adventures,? Either way the Dems will be able to disavow the group if they do something more blatantly illegal that doesn’t involve a civil war. And they’ll be sending a message to their own rank and file concerned about another election being rigged for Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders.
