We’re constantly lectured about privilege, meanwhile this is what a real privileged sense of entitlement looks like.
Here’s BuzzFeed’s piece on Andrew Gillium’s possible presidential run.
“The thing you have to understand about Andrew is he’s been told he’s going to be president someday his entire life,” an aide who worked on his campaign for governor and has spoken to Gillum recently told BuzzFeed News.
Donors and activists have spoken to Gillum trying to gauge his interest, in some cases asking for even a wink and a nod, but they’ve been unable to get a sense of Gillum’s thinking one way or another, the campaign aide said.
Why are there even serious discussions about the mayor of Tallahassee, who lost a statewide election, running for president?
How did this “hunger” get so bad that donors are desperate to buy him and Andy has been hearing his “entire life” that he’s going to be president? What major accomplishments qualify him for the job?
Democratic National Committee chair Tom Perez to declare that Gillum was “a rock star yesterday, he’s a rock star today, and he will be a rock star in the future” when introducing him to the party’s top donors.
Again, there’s this desperate scramble to Obamaize Gillium, to build a cult of personality around a guy who doesn’t bring much to the table.
Between Robert Francis O’Rourke and Gillium, we have two political princelings, neither of whom have much to offer, both of whom lost major elections, being groomed for a 2020 run by Dem operatives afraid that their bosses are too old to attract money or really win.
