Using Death Valley to prove global warming is a terrible argument to begin with. Setting heat records in one of the hottest places on earth that has ‘death’ right in its name is not going to prove very much.

But the Democrats are in hock to the cult of global warming. And the cult requires proving that the end is near by pointing to the weather, whatever it may be and shouting, “Aha”.

It’s snowing? That’s climate change. It’s hot? More climate change.

New records always have to be set. The problem is that Death Valley set a record of 134 degrees back in 1931. 

But facts are easily dismantled. And after initially bumping up against that 1913 number, the media started disregarding it entirely in pursuit of global warming clickbait. 

 

After initially described the current 130-degree reading as the “near highest” or the “second-highest”, the media pivoted to calling it the “highest reliable measurement”.

We’ve seen the Left go to Year Zero in cultural matters, but Year Zero in Warmunism means shooting down past measurements of high temperatures. Past heat records suddenly become unreliable. The past has to be erased to make way for a future of growing extremes. The right side of history or of the thermometer requires the erasure of the past. And the warmunists who claim that science is on their side are actually, literally, erasing science to fake an artificial record.
