“@ewarren is saying we should break up @Google. And like, I love her but she’s very misguided . . . all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do will be charged with preventing the next Trump situation, it’s like a small company cannot do that.” pic.twitter.com/5GflPP6uHD

The whole false claim that there’s a huge disinformation problem, a fake news problem, a ‘insert your Newspeak euphemism of the day’ problem was always about one thing and one thing only.
A plan to shut down conservative voices in response to Trump’s success on social media.
Full stop.
Here’s a Google exec saying in private what they won’t say in public, courtesy of Project Veritas.
Project Veritas has released a new report on Google which includes undercover video of a Senior Google Executive, leaked documents, and testimony from a Google insider. The report appears to show Google’s plans to affect the outcome of the 2020 elections and “prevent” the next “Trump situation.”
The report includes undercover footage of longtime Google employee and Head of Responsible Innovation, Jen Gennai saying:
“Elizabeth Warren is saying we should break up Google. And like, I love her but she’s very misguided, like that will not make it better it will make it worse, because all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do will be charged with preventing the next Trump situation, it’s like a small company cannot do that.”
It takes a huge monopoly to censor the internet and shut down conservatives.
There are two significant admissions here.
1. That Google is actively trying to suppress a “Trump situation”.
2. That its monopolistic powers are a good thing because it takes a big company to keep a tight rein on the internet
Google is making the argument to lefties that maintaining its monopoly will help suppress conservative voices.
What does Jen Gennai do? It may sound insignificant, but it’s really important in some ways.
The Responsible Innovation team is supposed to review whether Google’s use of AI is ethical. Google had previously purged Kay Cole James, an African-American conservative woman who was on Google’s external AI advisory council.
The council has no real problem. Gennai however does.
And while AI may summon visions of bad movies in which computers take over the world, in this case it can mean automating certain kinds of censorship and content selection so that conservative voices are shut out.
It’s probably already happened to you on social media.
And, as Gennai suggests, this is what Google sees as its ethical mission.
