California’s freeing a whole lot of criminals. Why not Manson family members?
Van Houten and another woman held down Rosemary LaBianca as Charles “Tex” Watson stabbed Leno LaBianca. After Watson stabbed Rosemary LaBianca, he handed Van Houten a knife. She testified to stabbing the woman at least 14 more times.
“And I took one of the knives, and Patricia had one a knife, and we started stabbing and cutting up the lady,” Van Houten testified in 1971.
In chilling detail, Van Houten described the killing of Rosemary LaBianca, who offered anything to have her life spared.
Gov. Newsom chose not to challenge Van Houten’s parole.
Gov. Gavin Newsom will not challenge a California appellate court’s decision to allow parole for Leslie Van Houten, moving the former follower of Charles Manson closer to release following more than 50 years behind bars.
What’s one more in the streets of California? And who remembers anyway except the families of the victims?
The LaBianca family expressed disappointment in the impending release.
“My family and I are heartbroken because we’re once again reminded of all the years that we have not had my father and my stepmother with us,” LaBianca’s daughter, Cory LaBianca, told the Associated Press Friday.
“My children and my grandchildren never got an opportunity to get to know either of them, which has been a huge void for my family,” the 75-year-old relative said.

When I was a young boy, the Manson murders were big news. Everybody knew about them and everybody normal was shocked. They even had a TV movie of the week about the murders. It was good. The actor who played Manson did a good job as a crazy psycho and even though the movie couldn’t show blood and guts on TV, it was horrifying. The actor who played the lead detective said it was his proudest performance as an actor. “Helter Skelter,” it was called. Too bad for the Beatles that Manson was a fan.
I guess Newscum doesn’t rate as normal. What a mutant. The Manson Family. That’s worse than Angela Davis or Sirhan Sirhan.
Good movie.
Helter Skelter, written by the lead prosecutor, Vincent Bugliosi, is the definitive book on the Manson Family. The movie was based on this book.
Sign of the times: reading the comments at New York Post., some of the commenters think “Once Upon a Time In Hollywood” is a historical portrayal.
Perhaps parts of it are. I didn’t think so. Also thought it was a terrible movie.
My wife and I have lately been watching Beverly Hillbillies reruns. Sharon Tate appeared in 15 episodes. She was a harmless human being. She just wanted to have her baby. She begged the Manson killers.
The left appears to be unconcerned with crime and punishment. The horror that these victims experienced during these two nights.
There is no justification to let Van Houten free. Hopefully, she gets her karma on the outside.
Van Houten? Yes, I hope she gets killed. What an unrepentant monster. I don’t believe anything her or the other “family” freaks have said on camera. I think their stated remorse is false.
I remember seeing the book “Helter Skelter,” in the book department at Rich’s Dept. Store, Northlake Mall, in ’74 or 5 (there was also an excellent graphic novel there at the time, “Alien,” that I’d see as a movie in a few years) when I was 8 or 9.. It was one of my first “true horror” novels, I read it on the shelf over several visits to the mall. It struck me then that they were supposedly peace loving leftist hippies committing horrific false flag attacks to start a race war.
“Alien” was a great movie. Sci-fi and horror both done right, and besides “2001 a Space Odyssey” it’s one of the only movies I’ve seen without stupid sound effects in a vacuum.
That’s a bit much. Newsom never made his horse a senator, though a horse would do a better job than some Califormia legislators

My heart seriously bleeds for California. Admittedly I was last there in 1980 but it was glorious, even LA. San Fran was clean and civilised.
This whole family of psychos, Piglosi and Newsom, absolute evil and naturally they commiserate with other killers and torturers. ;(
It’s funny, I traveled by car to San Francisco and above to Muir Woods with my mother in 1980. Drove up highway 1 and stopped at every tourist destination, even some restaurant on a mountainside in Big Sur that had a view of the Pacific. The whole trip is etched in my mind. I have to give my mother credit for that one. Drove back through the Central Valley on Highway 99. Ate at Split Pea Anderson’s and saw every crop growing known to man. Good times.
Something else that’s funny, I had a 5th grade teacher in ’76 that informed us that they would search your car for fruits and vegetables when you entered California, and confiscate them. Yet millions of illegal aliens had no problem getting into the state.
I had an INS agent pull over my friend when we driving outside of Brawley or Calapatria CA, and he asked me about fruit and vegetables. He also asked me what my name was because he thought I might be an illegal alien. He wasn’t so bad, though. I laughed when he asked me and he chuckled too. I was only 19 and drunk. The chick with us was drunk too, but my friend was smart enough to stay sober when he drove.
I remember wondering what the big deal with fruit and vegetables was. We get most of them from Mexico, now, anyway.
And I remember Chinese people asking me to claim boxes of fruit and vegetables in airport customs checks for them. As if I’d go to jail for those self interested slants. And as if the produce in America isn’t ten times better than the crap they grow in China.

Newsom the Nit-Wit wants to be just like the rest of these Liberal Democrats kind of like Moonbeam Brown under his leadership the facts also that Manson wasa vegan and Environmentalists as well
She has just the resume` the Dems want for activists or candidates.
The readers have to understand that California is facing a 32 billion dollar budget deficit for this year. What better way to cut cost than to release all the criminals from prisons and lay off all the prison guards Close down all the criminal courts, lay off the Judges, clerical people, contractors involved in transporting the prisoners to prison. You save on food, medical cost, pension expense, no parole board, no electric bills, no water bills, and any other paper work done by government worker.s Then you can start laying off all the state troopers, county sheriffs, and local police officers. In fact, close down the 911 centers as well. The left wing in California will be happy. The criminals will be happy, and the budget will be balance.
Of course, you the citizens of California may be unhappy when the crime rates go up, but the Governor will have the votes of the criminals and the left wingers in his pocket.

van Houten should not have been imprisoned for fifty years, she should have been executed along with the rest of the Manson “family”. Theirs was a crime that called out for the death penalty.
And we have the death penalty here in CA. Last time I checked, anyway.
I’d like to see him free Sirhan Sirhand and watch the cat fight when RFK Jr. reacts.

I liked that movie. It had a happy ending, too. Leonardo DiCaprio played a pastiche of Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen and Burt Reynolds. Brad Pitt played the the stuntman who lived with Burt Reynolds back in the early seventies.
The scene where the Pitt character beat the shit out of the Manson family hippy was great.
That scene where DiCaprio plays a criminal in that old series, “The FBI,” was actually played by Reynolds back in the day.

As details came out about the murders, it was four-walled for days; the strange thing to me was the “charismatic” Charlie Manson. Maybe knowing what he was doing colored my opinion, but my first look at him gave me the creeps.
The only way I could figure those girls joining up with him was they were dorky dopeheads. Certainly not the brightest bulbs in the box.
Now where will Van Houten go and will she still be supported by the state?
