St. Louis Mayor Tishaura O. Jones on Tuesday called on Congress to ban “weapons of war” and raise the age to purchase assault weapons to ensure her city continues to see a drop in violence.
”We have to get guns off our street. Period. Stop,” Jones told Meet the Press Now. “That still makes a difference in how successful we are in continuing our programs.”
”We need action on the federal level and the state level but no one one wants to seem to do anything,” she said.
“I am cautiously optimistic that Congress will act, but unfortunately we’ve seen this before,” she said.
In private, Mayor Jones was much more realistic.
Democratic St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones’ support of gun control is coming into question after an open records request released thousands of her personal texts, including one that argued gun crackdowns are ineffective.
“Chicago has strict gun laws as well but that doesn’t deter gun violence,” Jones texted in a group chat to her dad, Virvus Jones and advisor Richard Callow on March 21, KSDK reported. “It’s about investing in the people.”
But if only Congress banned “weapons of war” which are involved in a tiny percentage of shootings…

Here is what Democrats mean when they say “We need to invest in the people”:
“We will raise taxes on hard-working, productive, law-abiding people, give it to ideologically aligned groups who will advocate for policies that result in more poverty and crime and chaos, launder money back us, and commit the massive voter fraud needed to keep us in office.”
Investing in the people requires divesting from the individual citizen.
Maybe one day conservatives will admit drug control doesn’t work either.
Thugs will get guns one way or another and junkies will get drugs one way or another.
Because young people should be able to smoke as much dope as they want because it’s so good for young minds. OK, well, it’s better for them than liquor, and they can get that too. Yeah, so much better …

The criminals who are incarcerated do not poses guns (shanks maybe). Perhaps it’s time to put the repeat criminals or anyone who uses a gun in a crime in jail for a long period of time. Even if it doesn’t rehabilitate them, it as least takes them away from harming innocent people.
That’s interesting. Some black female Democrat mayors aren’t going along with the radical left program. I would guess they have enough street sense to realize it won’t work.
A blackish chick in the Georgia State Legislature just defected to the Republican party.

I live in the long outside edge of metro St. Louis in Illinois. With the streaming option of one local St. Louis television station, and the local news (everyday) is the news of daily shootings. In just about every case – it is black-on-black violence, and naturally – there is never mention of this in either the coverage or from this mayor.
As it stands – I avoid St. Louis like I do now Chicago.
And btw – this is generally the same story for Indianapolis (a city I once lived in), and for every city of America that I stream watch local news.
This mayor sits on an political machine that is both racial and disfunction. Only fools and idiots can think otherwise about her.
The very ones who call for Gun Control/Confiscation while surrounded by are guards Etc. Hogg and his band of useful idiots from March for Our Lives are indeed Guilty of Hypocrisy and Obama as well
