Despite polls showing that the majority of Americans oppose the Democrat attempt to nullify the 2016 election, House Dems rode their political stunt off the cliff by voting to begin a meaningless show that is doomed to end in a dismissive shrug from the Senate.
The narrow 230-197 vote on the first article. Only two Dems, one of them, Rep. Jeff Van Drew, is an incoming Republican, voted against. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard went on playing her dishonest game by voting ‘present’. Rep. Justin Amash, a former Republican, also joined the lynch mob.
The second article came through by 229-198.
These were purely partisan votes. And everyone sees them that way.
Speaker Pelosi is being praised for her incredible achievement here. But the only achievement was holding together most of her House Dems, with a handful of exceptions, on a party line partisan vote, that can’t go any further than the House.
As achievements go, that one’s pretty miserable.
