This has been wrongly billed as an impeachment vote. Instead it’s meaningless theater, backed by Dem judges, that will allow Dem House committees to conduct secretive activities outside public view in order to smear President Trump and influence the election.
The name of the thing is revealing. “H.Res.660: Directing certain committees to continue their ongoing investigations as part of the existing House of Representatives inquiry into whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to exercise its Constitutional power to impeach Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America, and for other purposes.”
That’s quite a mouthful.
Also, note the “other purposes” part.
So Schiff and the gang will continue doing what they’re doing anyway. But now there’s a party line vote in one chamber to tell them to continue doing.
This bit of meaningless theater will probably be used as ammo by Dem judges, but beyond that it’s a meaningless substitute for an actual impeachment vote.
What it does do is treat the Dem House abuses of process and disempowerment of counsel, its culture of secrecy, as if they have the full approval of Congress which, obviously, they do not.
So the kangaroo court, or the kangaroo courts bill, has passed the House. It won’t go any further. But the circus will go on.
