Mass migration and the collapse of religion among the young have transformed Europe. And it’s transforming America at a slower rate.
Christians now account for less than half of the UK population for the first time in census history, government figures reveal.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has today published the results of its census data on religion, national identity, ethnic group and language.
The results showed that for the first time in a census of England and Wales, less than half of the population (46.2 per cent, or 27.5 million people) described themselves as ‘Christian’ in 2021. This marks a 13.1 percentage point decrease from 59.3 per cent (33.3 million) in 2011.
Other results from the census showed that in 2021, 81.7 per cent (48.7 million) of usual residents in England and Wales identified their ethnic group within the ‘White’ category – a decrease from 86.0 per cent (48.2 million) in the 2011 Census.
The next most common ethnic group was ‘Asian, Asian British or Asian Welsh’ accounting for 9.3 per cent (5.5 million) of the overall population, this ethnic group also saw the largest percentage point increase from 2011, up from 7.5 per cent (4.2 million people)…
Other results from the religion data in the census showed that between 2011 and 2021, the Muslim population increased from 4.9 per cent to 6.5 per cent (2.7 to 3.9 million), the Sikh population grew from 0.8 per cent to 0.9 per cent (423,000 to 524,000), and the number of Buddhists rose from 0.4 per cent to 0.5 per cent (249,000 to 273,000).
Furthermore, the number of Hindus increased from 1.5 per cent to 1.7 pre cent (818,000 to 1 million) and the Jewish population rose from 265,000 to 271,000 (both at 0.5 per cent)…
Despite this decrease, ‘Christian’ remained the most common response to the religion question. ‘No religion’ was the second most common response, increasing to 37.2 per cent (22.2 million) from 25.2 per cent (14.1 million) across the ten year period.
In Obama’s first year in office, 68% of white Democrats described themselves as Christians, 7% claimed to be members of other faiths, and 24% said that they had no religious affiliation.
A decade later, only 47% of white Democrats call themselves Christians. 10% are members of other faiths, and 42% have no religion.
A majority of white Democrats have ceased to be Christian.
This is a generational phenomenon. Back to the UK.
In the UK, only 3% of 18-24 year olds identify as Anglicans, and only 5% as Catholics, among 25-34 year olds, 5% identify as Anglicans and 9% as Catholics. 64% of 18-24 year olds say that they have no religion, as do 57% of 25-34 year olds, and 60% of 35-44 year olds.
3%. Think about that.
These numbers may be a bit outdated, but they haven’t gotten any better. And America is catching up.
What you’re seeing is the result of cultural programming that has all but eliminated Judeo-Christian religiosity as a source of values and identity among the young and replaced it with pop culture and politics.
If one ASSUMES that Christianity actually, historically, theologically, and philosophically led and leads to the worldly and rational values of freedom, liberty, individualism, the pursuit of happiness on earth, and capitalism, and those are the rational values one desires, then the erosion and disappearance of Christian religiosity would be tragic and alarming for the future of America as a bastion of those rational, worldly, BUT essentially SECULAR values.
Marxism is essentially Christianity stripped of its supernatural, otherwordly, elements. Marx started out as a Christian. What he did was eject the supernatural Almighty God out of his mystical equation and replaced him with a mystical, but this-world, super-organism, called Almighty Society, to which the individual must submit to, sacrifice to, and serve.
The common denominator of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Marxism is the moral code of altruism and self-sacrifice. The submission and self-sacrifice of the individual to OTHER. Altruism literally means OTHERISM. In the aforementioned three religions the individual must submit to and serve a supernatural God and other co-religionists. In Marxism the individual must to submit to and serve the neighbor and Almighty Society.

This does not matter to the future of fascism, socialism, or some form of collectivism, and collectivist tyranny, in America, or Europe.
Even if every individual on earth were an atheist, so long as men are convinced that altruism and self-sacrifice are the highest and most noble virtues, and selfishness is immoral, or at best amoral, freedom, liberty, and capitalism do not stand a chance of surviving.
To paraphrase Objectivist philosopher Leonard Peikoff, morality ultimately triumphs over practicality, the majority of men will choose to be moral over being practical. So long as people believe that an altruist plan is a noble plan, there is no way to fight it. You cannot stop a noble plan–not if it really is noble. The only way you can defeat it is to unmask it–to show that it is the very opposite of noble. Then at least you have a fighting chance.
The Democrats may have abandoned Christianity but not so-called “noble” altruism and self-sacrifice.
Dems, and those with no moral code, believe the ends justify the means in all cases since they form their own core set of values based on whatever theory they have gravitated to. It’s why Democrats have no problem with voter fraud because even though it’s against the law, imposing their moral code over a Christian based one is more moral in the minds of liberals. Things like abortion on demand, gay marriage, drag queen rights, etc are pretty much anti-christian, but to the new morality and the left- they are expressions of freedom.
The “social gospel” was a late 19th century Christian scriptural interpretation and movement which emphasized the need to address the material needs of the poor. There have been many “Christian” movements in the past 2000 years, some clearly inspired by the Holy Spirit, some not. Christians disagree on many, and the social gospel is probably the most controversial of all. In my view, it was not inspired by the Holy Spirit, and if it was, the Spirit has moved on since the middle of the 20th century at least. You appear to believe that the social gospel has existed since 33 AD. Indeed, you seem to conflate the altruism of the Social Gospelers with Christianity itself. This is not accurate. While you’ve made statements with which Christians can agree, you remain lost in the wilderness of a 20th century atheist who worshipped her own intellect.
If you want to interpret Christianity as actually based on, endorsing, and promoting, rational self-interest, rational selfishness, rational self-preservation, self-esteem, self-confidence, and personal pride, individualism, freedom, liberty, capitalism, and the pursuit ofhappiness on earth, go ahead, knock yourself out. Try and square that circle. As Ayn Rand said, when faith and reason conflict it is up to the religious person how they will reconcile that conflict.

And they need the comfort and the solace of a God that can help them and forgive them. I fully understand that intense, overwhelming, spiritual, longing, it’s in me too. I would dearly welcome an after-life and to hug, kiss, and be with my dearly loved, departed ones, again.
Nevertheless, if this life is all there is, then it’s all there is. This life IS a value. It is worth living even if it doesn’t last forever. It can be beautiful and joyous if we work to make it so. But for that we need a philosophy and a morality for living on earth. Objectivism offers that….
In any case, most of the powerful nihilists and destroyers of America and the West are atheists, George Soros certainly is. No one is going to convince me the Clintons, Obama, Zuckerberg, Bezos, Gates, and their ilk are actually religious. Someof them may pretend to be to get elected but they’re not actually.
If the powerful and wealthy atheists and nihilists could only be converted to Objectivism freedom, liberty, rational values, and Capitalism would survive. In such a society Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Conscience would be a fundamental principle and Christians and Jews, and everybody else, would be free to follow their convictions, so long as they respect the rights of others too.
