This is a Huffington Post poll so you know that it is in no way, shape or form biased toward the accused. But here it is anyway.
28% of men responding to the poll think the accusation against Kavanaugh is credible. Compared to only 25% of women.
Men are more likely to think it’s not credible. Women are more likely to reserve judgment.
Democrats have a bare majority at 53%. Little faith among independents. The Dem opposition to Kavanaugh is also on the weak side.
Only about half the respondents are following the circus. More Republicans than Democrats are paying attention.
Also 11% worry about being accused of sexual harassment while 18% worry about being sexually harassed. Democrats are curiously far more likely to worry about sexual harassment than Republicans or indies, which suggest that this is a political attitude. There’s no such gap among fear of false accusations.
The bottom line is that most of the country doesn’t care. And the Dems don’t have the wind at their backs on Kavanaugh. Any Republicans who fail to move to a vote aren’t doing it because they fear the voters.
