Within a generation, Democrats have gone from being the party of Tipper Gore to being the party of Michael Jackson. The entire Dem establishment, from Biden at the federal level, to state officials, are doubling and tripling down on going after parents and pushing pornography on kids.
Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker has said he supports a House bill that would withhold state funding from any of the state’s 1,600 public or school libraries that remove books from their shelves. It passed in the Illinois Senate on Wednesday, and Pritzker is expected to sign the legislation.
“In Illinois, we don’t hide from the truth, we embrace it and lead with it,” the governor said when the bill was first presented. “Banning books is a devastating attempt to erase our history and the authentic stories of many.”
What “books” is Gov. Pritzker talking about?
The impetus for the legislation came from newly elected Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, whose office oversees library systems and their funding. Giannoulias, a Democrat, said he couldn’t fathom that book banning is happening in 2023.
“It is so blatant, and so dangerous. I was blown away,” he told POLITICO.
Giannoulias proposed the idea of banning book bans during his campaign last year and then approached Democratic state Rep. Anne Stava-Murray about following through with legislation. She had a special interest because a group of parents at a high school in her district demanded a book about a nonbinary person coming out — “Gender Queer: A Memoir,” by Maia Kobabe — be banned from the school district’s shelves. The parents called the book pornographic.
Is it? Let’s go with the courts on this one.
Judge Pamela Baskervill ruled Wednesday that Gender Queer: A Memoir and A Court of Mist and Fury are too “obscene for unrestricted viewing by minors,” ABC 7 News reported. Virginia public schools may soon have to remove the novels and similarly graphic books from library shelves.
The book contains illustrations of a male character performing oral sex on a dildo affixed to Kobabe with a harness and recounts Kobabe’s trip to a pornography production company.
Gov. Pritzker and Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias want to make sure kids read that scene and all the other materials. But don’t call them “groomers”. They’re just fighting to “protect ideas” by punishing anyone whose ideas disagree with theirs, like schools with even the faintest sense of responsibility to their students or parents opposed to this in their schools.

They are against banning books but for banning the classics or rewriting them.
I’m reading Sir Richard Burton’s books written in the mid 1800s, filled with useful information about the people in places he visited, like India and the Middle East 🙂

Now Pritzker should do Huckleberry Finn. FWIW, why do we let these liars even talk about “banning books” in this regard. Parents wanting their kids to read this garbage are free to buy them for their family’s enjoyment. They are just being kept out of school libraries. Same with, e.g., “The Story of O” and the “Kama Sutra” neither of which you’ll find in a school library, or so I hope. BTW, Pritzker’s, brother, er, sister, is big in financing the trans and LGBTF#?~++i agenda with the family fortune (Hyatt Hotels).

He was so cool. I loved his books. I haven’t read one in 40 years or so but I still remember them. I should look up the web link that has all his works like you did.
Since you like Burton’s works, I recommend “The Blue Nile” and “The White Nile” by Alan Moorehead. Knowing you, you may have already read them but if not, you’ll enjoy them. They’re quite thrilling even though they’re documentaries.

Also, there are some good biographies about him. The one by Edward Rice is excellent ant Fawn Brodie’s is good too. She applied dumb Freudian theories to him but her research was meticulous and fantastic.

Thanks! I remember reading one of his books on WW2 in North Africa.

Pritzker ( and his family) see grooming and the trans movement as a source of income for Big Pharma

They may have some connection to Epstein, in news that came out the last day or so.

That doughnut gobbling slob, Pritzker, is just doing his part to corrupt another generation and provide his pedophile pals in the democrat party more young targets. Who votes for guys like this? Doesn’t anyone learn from their mistakes, anymore?

Absolutely right. I never blamed the people suffering under communism, though I might be called on to kill them. Very few of them had any real choice.
