The only legitimate judiciary is an independent one because only an independent judiciary has any right to issue decisions. A judiciary that is just an arm of an ideological movement is an abomination whose only function is abusing the law to promote its cause.

Such a judiciary is entirely illegitimate, unconstitutional, and the only one that we actually have.

That’s tragic and it’s why judicial power needs to be sharply limited.

Every time a Federal judge grotesquely abuses the law to declare, without precedent or legal basis, that President Trump can’t do X, Y or Z, even though there were no problems when previous administrations had done so, it’s an ideological abomination.

President Trump is right to point that out. Justice Roberts is defending an independent judiciary that doesn’t exist. And it won’t exist until there are significant reforms. Those reforms can’t happen until we have a real conversation about what the judiciary has become.
