Here in the United States and in other non-Muslim countries, we love Islam. We are proud of our love for Islam, because it shows the world that we are not racists, we are not bigots, we are not “Islamophobes.” Oh, no. We are enlightened. We are generous. We are open-minded. We welcome refugees. We know Islam is a religion of peace, and are happy to have large numbers of Muslim migrants join our glorious multicultural mosaic. In fact, we love Islam so much that we love it even more than many Muslims themselves do.
A case in point comes from a disturbing incident that the HinduPost reported recently: three Muslims abducted and gang-raped a 16-year-old Hindu girl, and even shot a video of the rapes. When it was all over, they threatened to kill her. HinduPost notes that “the girl can be seen pleading with the men in the extremely disturbing video. She is heard calling them ‘bhaiya’ (brother) and saying, ‘Please leave me for your Allah’s sake.’ But her pleas had no effect on her rapists,” who were identified as Mohammed Chotka, Mohammed Badka and Mohammed Nazim.
“Please leave me for your Allah’s sake.” Why didn’t this plaintive cry move the hearts of Mohammed Chotka, Mohammed Badka and Mohammed Nazim? Why didn’t they recall what non-Muslim political (Barack Obama, John Kerry) and religious (Pope Francis, the Dalai Lama) leaders constantly remind us: that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance that upholds human rights and the equality of rights of all people? Why didn’t Mohammed Chotka, Mohammed Badka and Mohammed Nazim remember that Islam teaches respect and regard for women, including infidel women? Why did they instead keep on abusing this poor girl, ignoring her invocation of their noble, tolerant, peaceful, equitable religion?
One reason could be that Islam is not actually what these confident non-Muslim experts believe it to be, and that many Muslims are aware of this. The behavior in this case of Mohammed Chotka, Mohammed Badka, and Mohammed Nazim has solid Qur’anic sanction, and at least some Muslim rapists know this: one survivor of a Muslim rape gang in the UK said that her rapists would quote the Qur’an to her, and believed their actions justified by Islam.
The Qur’an teaches that Infidel women can be lawfully taken for sexual use (cf. its allowance for a man to take “captives of the right hand,” 4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50, 70:30). The Qur’an says: “O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (33:59) The implication there is that if women do not cover themselves adequately with their outer garments, they may be abused, and that such abuse would be justified.
Another case in point came in Germany last week, when a Muslim migrant received a ten-year sentence for six attempted murders of judges and prosecutors (yes, you read that right, about 21 months for each murder). He also wanted to behead another migrant because he “insulted his religious feelings.”
Haider spat toward the judge and screamed: “To hell with you and those who created you.” He wrote to judges who were on his case: “I promise, if I get a pig from your worshipers of the cross in the hands, I will drink his blood. I’ll spit at you and your cross.”
In response, Judge Sandra Mayer said: “It’s amazing how a young man can be so caught up in hate, anger and blind rage….Haidar A. is caught in almost medieval ways of thinking and the court has little hope that he will develop for the better.”
His ways of thinking aren’t “almost medieval,” they’re Islamic, based on the Qur’an’s repeated exhortations to “kill them wherever you find them” (2:191, 4:89, cf. 9:5) and to wage war against and subjugate Christians and other People of the Book under the hegemony of Islamic law (9:29). But Mayer and the rest of the German establishment cannot and will not admit that; to do so would be “Islamophobic,” and would cast all of Merkel’s migrant enterprise into question.
All over the world, non-Muslim, including those who are in positions of power, continue to assume that if Muslims would only adhere to the true teachings of Islam, then there would be peace and harmony between Muslim and non-Muslim communities, and behavior such as what is described in this story would disappear.
Unfortunately, that is an unrealistic assumption. The sooner non-Muslim leaders recognize that and begin to formulate realistic ways to deal with it, the better off we will all be. But that recognition isn’t even on the horizon.
