Religious Zionism Party lawmaker Simcha Rothman: “The bare minimum we can do as a moral country is to revoke their citizenship and residency.”
While European countries such as Germany and France are flying in Islamic State (ISIS) brides and their offspring from the Middle East, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s newly-elected government in Israel is moving ahead with a bill to revoke the citizenship and residency rights from individuals convicted of terrorism in the country.
Arab lawmakers in the Israeli parliament were enraged at the proposed law targeting convicted terrorists, the Israeli media reports said.
Israeli TV channel i24news reported the details of the bill:
The House Committee of Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, on Monday approved the expedited review of a bill that seeks to revoke citizenship or residency of convicted terrorists who receive compensation from the Palestinian Authority (PA) for their actions.
Lawmakers from the Religious Zionism and Likud parties introduced the bill that is scheduled to receive a preliminary reading vote on Wednesday.
“For years we’ve become accustomed to having an entity receive funding from the State of Israel while it maintains an official price list: ‘Murdered a Jew? Here’s a stipend,” said Religious Zionism lawmaker Simcha Rothman, referring to the PA.
“The bare minimum we can do as a moral country is to revoke their citizenship and residency,” he added.
Israeli Arab lawmakers in response said the bill is aimed at “a selective issue that only addresses Arabs.”
“When it comes to an Arab citizen, there are always populist proposals. There are policemen who kill Arabs and get promoted,” said member of the Israeli Arab Hadash Ta’al party Ahmad Tibi, causing an uproar within the committee.
Coalition chairman Ofir Katz of the Likud party plans to push the bill through the Knesset within two weeks, in cooperation with part of the opposition.
If the bill is approved, it will notably be possible to revoke the Israeli citizenship of terrorist Karim Younis, who murdered Israeli soldier Avraham Bromberg in 1980 and was released from prison last Thursday, paving the way for his deportation. The same applies to his cousin and accomplice Maher Younes, who will be released in a week and a half.
Earlier in July, the Supreme Court ruled that the State of Israel can revoke the citizenship of terrorism convicts even if they have no other citizenship.

Excellent decision by the Israeli government. Let the EU run it’s country as they see fit and let Israel Handel its internal affairs. Moreover, there is. I equivalency between ISIS brides welcomed back in the EU to murdering terrorists who kill Israeli civilians and soldiers. None.

Why are arab terrorists who openly want Israel to cease to exist allowed to be in the Knesset (<– Israel's parliament)?
That said, my default assumption is that if the arab terrorists don't like it, then it must be a good idea for Israel.

Furthermore, if the left doesn’t like it, it’s the right move.

Revoke the citizenship of the terrorist’s immediate family, as well. They can find citizenship elsewhere! Citizenship in Israel is a privilege. Though the family may not be as guilty as their terrorist member, they are a risk to the Israeli population.

Good move – we should do that here for DEMOcrats!! It appears that the NEW Israeli Government is moving towards an ISRAEL FIRST Policy – as it SHOULD! All the YEARS/DECADES of appeasement have done NOTHING but add to their debt and DEATHS! Terrorists only recognize ONE THING – POWER! They want the POWER to inflict damage and death without the repercussions – it’s good that the NEW Government is putting an end to the “slap on the wrist” or “look the other way” policies of the past! The ONLY way they will have PEACE is to ELIMINATE those who THREATEN their PEACE! We’ll get there eventually!

This is of course a very good idea. While other countries may choose to do nothing against terror attacks, this is no reason why Israelis should do likewise. The terrorists are paid by the PA.. the terrorists can go and live in the PA areas too. I can think of no valid reason why we should harbour those who seek our destruction.

What do you think about repealing the citizenship of family members and making them leave the country, too? It seems to make sense, since the individual does not have so much autonomy in Arab culture and the family is of more importance.
Paula says
Arab involvement in ANY terrorist activity makes them an enemy of the state and revoking their citizenship and removing them from the country is simply common sense. Israel has more than enough enemies without sanctioning terrorism from Israeli citizens.?Don’t like Israel, leave it behind and make your way and livelihood in Palestine…..you cannot enjoy the benefits of citizenship and engage in treason against the state!!!
Tershia says
I wish Canada would follow suit!
Here the PM even wears socks with Arabic writing on it and pays terrorists millions of dollars in compensation for being imprisoned in Guantanamo – as in Omar Khadr being paid $8 million for being imprisoned for 10 years.
Other terrorists are excused as suffering from mental illness.
Perhaps we should move to Israel!
Al Fargnoli says
Anyone in the Knesset who thinks terrorists should retain Israeli citizens after having been convicted by due process should probably lose Israeli citizenship.
