The Left’s latest hate hoax melted down very badly. Which means that it’s time for the media which blew it up to ignore it. And for the 2020 candidates who got on a high horse over it to gallop on to the next town and the next social justice stampede.
A witness to a heated grocery store encounter between state Rep. Erica Thomas and a man she accused of uttering racist comments told authorities she didn’t hear him make those remarks, according to a Cobb County police report.
A Publix employee told a Cobb County officer that she witnessed part of the conversation and heard Thomas “continuously tell Eric Sparkes to ‘Go back where you came from!’” but did not hear Sparkes utter those words to Thomas.
In a tearful video, Thomas accused Sparkes of using that phrase, which echoes a tweet by President Donald Trump that sparked a national uproar. Her account quickly went viral and triggered a wave of support and backlash.
Sparkes is a Cuban immigrant. Thomas is African-American.
In this encounter, who would be more likely to tell whom to, “Go back where you come from”?
The answer was always obvious and now it’s been confirmed by the police report. But there’s no way that anyone involved in #IStandWithErica will ever apologize or that there will be a reckoning because “women of color” are sacrosanct in lefty circles and Sparkes probably qualifies as a fabled “white Hispanic”.
And yet we now have a hate hoax in which the roles were completely reversed with a Democrat pol telling an immigrant to go back to his own country.
The Dem 2020ers, including Beto O’Rourke, who clamored to come to Erica’s defense should now be asked whether they condemned her hate.
