This is how much contempt politicians have for the public when they know the media has their back.
Case in point, Senator Gillibrand.
She said she’d serve a full six-year term, but having handily won re-election to the U.S. Senate, Kirsten Gillibrand says she might be off to the races again, seeking the presidency in 2020.
CBS2’s Marcia Kramer caught up with her on Monday.
She signed autographs and posed for selfies as if it was just another day on the campaign trail — and it just might be. Gillibrand told Kramer she might throw her hat in the 2020 ring.
“I’m thinking about it. I’m going to give it some long, hard consideration,” Gillibrand said.
Yes, this is the same Kirsten Gillibrand who told voters last week that if they re-elected her she’d stay in the Senate.
“I will serve my six-year term,” she said during a debate with Republican challenger Chele Farley on Oct. 25.
Two things.
1. Marcia Kramer is awesome. She’s the only actual journalist working on local TV who asks tough questions. When she retires, it will be a huge loss.
2. Gillibrand has had her shame surgically removed at an uptown clinic.
As usual though, Trump is the excuse that covers all lefty sins.
“For me, it’s really a moral question because I think what President Trump has been doing, putting so much division into the country, I’ve really been called to fight as hard as I can against the fraying of the social fabric,” Gillibrand said.
And she’s doing so by participating in the hate rallies of the supporters of a hate group.
Ever since then the trial balloons have kept rising. Even though no one is actually interested.
During an appearance on ABC’s The View that aired Monday morning, Gillibrand said she is mulling her options in the wake of what she calls “corruption” within the Trump administration.
“I’m obviously very dedicated to serving New Yorkers,” Gillibrand said. “But that’s a very important moral question that I’ve been thinking about…what President Trump is putting into this country is so disturbing, so divisive, so dark, that I believe I’ve been called to fight as hard as I possibly can to restore that moral integrity, that moral decency. So, I’m thinking about it.”
Who is issuing these calls exactly? Can’t the rest of the Dem Senate clown car, and even losers like Beto, answer this call sufficiently while leaving her to enjoy being a dime store copy of Hillary Clinton?
