Tough choice.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif is at least loyal to Iran. Unfortunately so is John Kerry.
A tape of Zarif leaked in which he mocks various foreign leaders, admits Iran is being run by its Supreme Leader and its terrorist militias (thus shooting down all the false claims about moderates running Iran that the pro-Iran Left has pushed) and mentions that John Kerry told him about what Israel was doing.
Considering Kerry’s relationship with Zarif, especially during the Trump administration, that’s not hugely surprising.
“Former Secretary of State John Kerry informed him that Israel had attacked Iranian interests in Syria at least 200 times, to his astonishment, Mr. Zarif said,” a Times story about the leaked tape noted.
The Biden State Department’s Iran Firsters took the usual Obama approach by following the familiar, “why are you surprised” approach.
“If you go back and look at press reporting from the time, this certainly was not secret,” Biden’s State Dept spokesman Ned Price insisted.
If it wasn’t secret, then why was Zarif claiming to be surprised about it?
Kerry however tweeted a more pointed denial, “I can tell you that this story and these allegations are unequivocally false. This never happened – either when I was Secretary of State or since.”
Zarif says Kerry did it. The State Department spokesman clearly thinks Kerry did it. Kerry however insists he didn’t do it.
It’s a pretty sad state of affairs when the Foreign Minister of Iran is more credible than John Kerry.
