Biden’s a little over the age and generation of participation trophies, but it’s incredible what a low bar is being set.

The media has spent over a week taking a victory lap on Biden’s behalf because he managed to get a watered-down version of the bill through after it was held hostage by two senators from his own party.

As the signature accomplishment for a year and likely a presidential term, it’s really pathetic.

Even in isolation from the national disaster that is the economy, the massive crime and all the other political, social, cultural, medical and assorted other problems, it would be a pretty poor accomplishment for the president of a party that holds majorities in the House and the Senate, to claim victory for managing to get a bill passed.

Especially when that bill was blocked by two Senate members from his own party who determined the final content of it.

Never mind doing a time when most people are focused on inflation, crime, diminishing hopes and national conflict.

But Joe Low Expectations Biden always seems to get graded on a curve.

Did he manage to recite most of his teleprompter speech without fumbling it too much? A+

Is his approval rating at 40%? Gold star!

Is the catastrophic inflation only slightly higher in the latest selectively categorized report? He’s the new FDR! Happy days are here again!

I don’t know if this is a general attempt by the media to salvage the reputation of the Democrats ahead of the midterms or to make Biden feel like he can retire a winner. Probably both. Certainly the former. But even Obama wasn’t this condescended to for pretty much just getting out of bed in the morning.
