Washington D.C. is awash in crime and it’s affecting everyone. But some folks in D.C. have their own armed security. While others are just trying to survive.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor opposes guns. For you. But her security is armed. Because she still needs armed men to defend her.
Two deputy US Marshals shot a would-be carjacker who pulled a gun on him while they were guarding Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s home in Washington, DC, authorities said.
The marshals were parked outside Sotomayor’s home in northwest DC on July 5 when Kentrell Flowers, 18, allegedly walked up to one of their cars around 1:15 a.m. and pointed a gun one of the federal agents, the US Marshals Service told The Post.
One of the federal agents drew his weapon and fired several shots at the suspect, with the second officer also firing his weapon at Flowers.

Mike Gill, the former Trump administration official who was shot during a Washington, D.C., carjacking spree on Monday, died Saturday, his wife said in a statement.
Gill, who previously worked at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission under former President Donald Trump, was shot Monday in violence related to a carjacking spree that also claimed the life another man.
Either law-abiding citizens can be armed or everyone, not just lefty justices, should get their own pair of U.S. Marshalls.
I sure hope Flowers, who based on his choice of criminality and first name of Kentrell is doubtlessly one of the usual suspects, died of his wounds. That would be partial justice but full justice would be if the foolish Latina, Sotomayortard, were shot dead by a criminal wielding a stolen gun.
I thought home rule in DC was a mistake, even when it was first proposed, but I didn’t realize it would get this bad.
How new or geeked out does one have to be, to miss that they’re trying to jack a fed in a government fleet car? Are they driving Escalades these days? This is the 3rd incident in less than a year where the Secret Service or Marshals on security details shot attempted carjackers or thieves in dem run cities.
The proud latinx Sotomayor apparently has no problem with using her position of privilege to have men of color shot for merely trying to address systemic inequalities.

There are only two options. Either you protect yourself, or someone else does it. In a place like DC, where your right to defend yourself is restricted and private security is expensive, the ordinary citizen has no options. Your response is nonsense.

Didn’t her body guard, a US marshal just prevent a car jacking of her vehicle? The car jacker was shot. She better wake up, anyone can be attacked without warning.
Personal Security Services should be taught in technical trade schools. Should include background checks and be hired by civilians. Let them do the shooting of criminals.

A well regulated militia in no way leaves citizens out of the right to bear arms. Its specifies they have that right because the people are the regular militia.
The “well regulated” part of that refers to the arms owned by the militia, which are to be compatible with those used by the standing military forces.
In other words and in this day and age AR-15s, which are the civilian weapons the military’s rifles are based on.
No person who opposes the “shall not be infringed” passage in the Second Amendment should be protected by armed guards. But they should be required to post a “Gun-free Zone” sign on their residence and office.

They fired “several shots” at Flowers, of Southeast DC, was arrested and treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Seems to me those two US Marshall’s need to go back to the range for some more training since they did not kill the man after firing ‘several shots” so he had to be in close proximity since Flowers was trying to carjack one of them
