In the midst of a permanent culture war, why even bother building statues of white people whose first name isn’t Karl? But even in the midst of canceling Washington, Lincoln, and John Muir, they’re going to build a statue of Ruth Bader Ginsburg for her incredible accomplishment as a feminist role model in putting Justice Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court.

The Los Angeles City Council Tuesday authorized a monument of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to be installed at Van Nuys Civic Center.

The monument, designed by artist Saya Woolfalk, will feature a stainless steel roof and mosaic tile floor based upon two of the collars that Ginsburg was known to wear with her judicial robes.

Did I say statue? Culture war lefties are too devoid of basic aesthetics to put up a statue. Instead, they’ll construct a horrific ugly modern art abomination with clashing materials. 

But RBG should be glad. It could have been much worse. Just ask feminist icon Mary Wollstonecraft.

Mary Wollstonecraft, the author of the early feminist tract A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792), was a powerful advocate for women’s equality. Now, centuries after her death, a campaign to see her honored with a public statue in London has finally succeeded—but the artwork has ignited a social media firestorm. The sculpture depicts a nude—and remarkably fit—young woman emerging from a swirling mass of silvered bronze that’s said to represent the writer’s spirit.

At least RBG has been spared that final indignity.

But really why even bother since any monument to a white person will have to be destroyed once some Twitter lefty influencers discover an RBG ruling about some identity politics cause that doesn’t accord with their views. If she ever turned down a death penalty appeal, that will be enough to label her a murderer of black people.

If you think that’s farfetched, Senator Dianne Feinstein was recently canceled over allegations that she supported the Confederacy. (No, I’m not making stuff up. The Left is really this insane.)

If Confederate General Dianne Feinstein must fall, how long until Confederate General Ruth Bader Ginsburg joins her?

Wouldn’t it save time to not construct the memorial instead of building it only to have it be vandalized and then pulled down? But maybe that’s also the idea here. The lefty culture war will construct memorials only to have them torn down by raving mobs. And then will repeat the cycle.

I’m not sure if that’s more 1984 or Brave New World.
