The top of LA’s corrupt DEI hierarchy proved completely inept during the recent fires. That included LA’s first black female mayor, Karen Bass, the LA fire department’s first lesbian fire chief, Kirsten Crowley, and the first ‘latina’ head of the Department of Water and Power Janisse Quinones who was given a $750,000 salary.
Because she was so historic.
Now people are a bit upset because their homes burned down. So the first black mayor fired the first lesbian fire chief and the first latina head is getting $700,000 in security because this is the state of California.
The chief executive of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has asked the utility’s board to spend around $700,000 on private security for her, citing an uptick in threats after the Palisades fire.
n the wake of the Palisades fire, the DWP received criticism for diminished water pressure in some hydrants and for the Santa Ynez Reservoir sitting empty for nearly a year while awaiting a repair estimated to cost about $130,000.
Quinones, who took over as head of the nation’s largest municipal utility in May, came under increasingly personal attacks online that assailed her $750,000 salary and denigrated her as a “DEI hire” over her Puerto Rican roots.
It wasn’t “over her Puerto Rican roots’, it was over her massively inflated salary. The original DWP press announced that she was a DEI hire by touting her as the “first female Latina to lead LADWP as CEO.”
DWP could have spent $130,000 to fix the reservoir, but instead it spent over 10 times that on its DEI hire.
Now why might people be a bit upset at the DEI boss of the DWP?
Sources told DailyMail.com that since her hiring at LADWP, Quinones oversaw the shutdown and emptying of a reservoir in the Pacific Palisades during brushfire season.
The shutdown meant firefighters battling the current Palisades Fire ran out of water faster, experts say.
A well-connected former LAFD senior officer told DailyMail.com that lack of water was already a ‘common’ problem, exacerbated by DWP failing to fix cutoff fire hydrants.
‘Yearly, the fire department goes out and checks every hydrant,’ he said.
‘For my entire career we would do this once a year then send in a report to our Hydrant Unit with all the problems we encountered. Year after year the same hydrants that had problems were not fixed.
‘One example that comes to mind were the hydrants by Palisades High School on Temescal Canyon. They were dry many times we checked them. DWP knew they had problems and it would take months to fix them.
‘It’s a City-wide known problem with DWP.
In a democracy, catastrophic failures like this lead to heads rolling. In an aristocracy, they double the guard around the elites and warn that the peasants are revolting and may need to be put down.
Democrats unfortunately act like this over and over again. They wreck things and then when people get upset, hire more security, call for crackdowns and warn of a ‘threat to democracy’ by which they mean their own misrule.
Outrageously, police units were diverted to provide Quinones with security at a time when manpower was low. Now Pinkerton guards will be hired to give the “first latina CEO” her own private secret service.
Karen Bass and her DEI pet hire should be “dealt” with.
Yes, where are enterprising snipers when LA needs them? Busy covering their walls with Trump photos and stalking him, I guess.
No doubt Los Angelenos are happy to waste an extra $700,000. to protect their first lesbian CEO of Caribbean descent from some insulting emails and social media comments.
Will these get on the legacy media NBC, CBS, ABC local news in Los Ashes, California? Hell no.
Why is this skank getting a salary higher than the President of the United States –
The globalist demonKKKrat party in California is trenched in and Californians are damned fools!
Doubling down on stupid. I love LA (h/t Randy Newman).
Yes! I love Randy Newman, even though he’s only an old bat lefty. At least he actually makes fun of the left too, not just righties. But lately, I’ve been thinking that perhaps we should drop the big one, afterall.
Just LA only.
How about this one?? …
In the article title, “Get” should be “Gets”.
And you Mr. Grammar,
In American English, periods always go inside the quotation marks at the end of a sentence. For example: She said, “It’s a beautiful day.”
Can’t you just enjoy the content of the article and not nitpick a minor mistake?
Right on both counts.
It’s probably that stupid new software that some large company installed recently. It “corrects” my posts even before I finish typing the word 🙂
Thank God you’re around to correct typos. You’re a real treasure.
The problem with the reservoir that had it empty for a year was that there was a tear in the cover that prevented contaminants like bird poop getting into the water. Yeah, that couldn’t have been fixed in less time than it takes for the Earth to go around the sun. Geez, the people of Call will apparently accept any excuse for incompetence as long as it is uttered by a BIPOC person.
I would say 99% of the people here are clueless about what is going on locally. I got countless local problems that I spotted solved just by emailing the right local politician or official.
Good work. The only time I contacted the new Mayor here in San Jose, his underlings kept my email from him, even though it concerned his pet cause, homelessness. I assume they ran interference but maybe he’s just another political fraud.
I live about 3,500 miles from California and I know about it. Why can’t the people who actually live there get informed? It’s not that hard.
That’s a mystery.
Loud Mouth Bass and the Water Wonder of L.A.
700K sounds like a lot of money but this is California and California is expensive. Plus this is government and government is expensive. Eight people making just under $90K each working 2 on 2 off 12 hour shifts (42 hours per week) would provide two people 24×7 coverage for $700K. Plus, that $90K wouldn’t be $90K on the pay stub. It would include things like medical, employer-side FICA, and other benefits. $700K doesn’t go very far these days.
You’s gets what you’s votes for….time to re-think what and who you vote for!
