Say it with me, “We’re not all in this together”.
Even those who believe that lockdowns are justified have to admit that this is a corrupt farce. In under a month, Governor Newsom was caught partying with a lobbyist and 10 others at the French Laundry eatery, violating his own regulations, California politicians flew to Hawaii to party with lobbyists, and the woman who banned outdoor dining… dines outdoors.
During Tuesday’s L.A. County Board of Supervisors meeting, Kuehl referred to outside dining as “a most dangerous situation” over what she described as a risk of tables of unmasked patrons potentially exposing their servers to the coronavirus.
“This is a serious health emergency and we must take it seriously,” Kuehl said.
“The servers are not protected from us, and they’re not protected from their other tables that they’re serving at that particular time, plus all the hours in which they’re working.”
Kuehl went on to vote in support of restricting outdoor dining in Los Angeles County, which passed by a 3-2 margin of the Board of Supervisors.
And you’ll never guess what happened next…
FOX 11 received multiple tips that shortly after her vote on Tuesday, Kuehl was seen dining outside at Il Forno Trattoria in Santa Monica, an Italian restaurant near her house that she has previously described as one of her ‘favorite’ restaurants.
At least she was taking it seriously.
Kuehl’s statement is a masterpiece of hypocritical absurdity.
“She did dine al fresco at Il Forno on the very last day it was permissible. She loves Il Forno, has been saddened to see it, like so many restaurants, suffer from a decline in revenue. She ate there, taking appropriate precautions, and sadly will not dine there again until our Public Health Orders permit.”
She won’t dine there because it’ll be closed. That doesn’t change the fact that the same politician who was lecturing about how dangerous outdoor dining is was dining outdoors. That’s not something you do if you really believe it’s dangerous. It’s what you do when you’re trying to dodge your own regulations.
As I wrote in, “Democrat Governors are Suicidal — or They Don’t Believe in Their Own Lockdowns”, they don’t believe the stuff they’re telling us.
But when Newsom and Cuomo, among others, casually hang out in close proximity without masks, there’s only one conclusion.
They don’t practice this stuff because they don’t think it works.
What do they know that we don’t? Mostly, that nothing they’re doing will really make a difference, but that they need to be seen to be doing something…
What is really important in any crisis is to be seen taking it very seriously by holding constant press conferences and imposing pain, lockdowns, restrictions, mandates, on the public. The more people suffer, the more a politician must get credit for doing everything to fight the virus…
To find out what people really believe, don’t listen to what they say, watch what they do.
And what they do when they think no one is watching tells us everything.
