Mahmoud Abbas, the Islamic terrorist leading the terror organization known as the PLO or the Palestinian Authority, will head the United Nations Group of 77 and China.
That’s been described as the largest US bloc with over 130 members.
Group 77 is essentially an association of third world countries along with China. So the PLO fit perfectly. It’s also traditional at the UN to have wholly inappropriate leadership, like Yemen getting a top position promoting gender equality.
A human rights watchdog organization today condemned the UN’s election of Yemen, the worst-ranking country in the world on gender equality, to be vice-president of the Executive Board of UN Women, which is the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women.
“How could the UN choose Yemen, a country that tolerates female genital mutilation, denies women hospital treatment without the permission of a male relative, and counts a woman’s testimony as worth half that of a man?” asked Neuer.
How could it not? It’s the UN.
Abusing human rights is a leading qualifier for any UN position.
Mahmoud Abbas, known as Abu Mazen, provided financing for the terrorist attack that killed 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany, says Israeli attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, director of the Shurat Hadin – Israel Law Center.
In a letter to President George W. Bush and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Darshan-Leitner called for an investigation into Abu Mazen’s role in the Sept. 5, 1972, attack, carried out by Arafat’s central Palestinian Liberation Organization faction Fatah.
The terrorist group, operating under the name “Black September,” sent a squad of armed Palestinians to attack dormitories housing the Israeli Olympic team. The gunmen murdered a coach and a member of the weightlifting team, then took nine other Israelis hostage. The Palestinians demanded they be transported to the Munich airport where a rescue attempt by German police failed, and all nine hostages were murdered.
This is what the UN is. It has less moral legitimacy than your average serial killer.
