This is the Washington National Cathedral. It’s not the Crystal Cathedral.
You would think that even proggies wouldn’t be throwing a tantrum over this. But it’s Trump’s Space Force and a religious ceremony that doesn’t involve pledging everyone’s first-born children to stop the flying global warming monster.
So here we go.
In a tweet on Sunday, the Washington National Cathedral posted a statement describing the Bible that was blessed during a morning service as a Space Force official Bible “which will be used to swear in all commanders of America’s newest military branch.”
“Gross,” wrote one Twitter respondent identifying himself as United Church of Christ Pastor Seth Wispelwey of Tucson, Ariz.
Seth is also a Black Lives Matter organizer and his pronouns are Him/Something/Other. He then followed up with a Twitter thread, which includes the quote, “I have a whole sermon recording on (gross) Christian nationalism and (scary gross) blessing of and compliance with the fascist military machine.” Also, “I was able to work “Jesus is Antifa” into a sermon”.
So exactly the sort of fellow NPR should have been quoting.
