Most people know MacArthur Park from an old song about a cake and a recipe and a metaphor. Locals know it as a hellhole. I’ve gone past it and kept on going. The outside looks like a migrant tent camp packed with third worlders. It has a reputation for drugs and worse things going on there.
But when ICE showed up at MacArthur Park, Mayor Karen Bass for once wasn’t in Ghana and trooped in to make a show of denouncing immigration enforcement. Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed that Stephen Miller was targeting children.
But anyone who lives here knows the reality. MacArthur Park is no more of a children’s playground than it is a place you bake cakes. It’s a dangerous and violent hellhole. And exactly the place that the federal government should be cleaning up.
But for those who just know the song…
It’s a pity she didn’t lay hands on an ICE Agent, then they could have locked up her incompetent, corrupt arse.
That’s the problem with public parks. The worst elements take over.
That’s the problem with all public property.
“Since “public property” is a collectivist fiction, since the public as a whole can neither use nor dispose of its “property,” that “property” will always be taken over by some political “elite,” by a small clique which will then rule the public—a public of literal, dispossessed proletarians….
Capitalism is a social system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property rights, in which all property is privately owned.” – Ayn Rand
Everything in government is a collectivist fiction. That said, your capitalism couldn’t exist without a strong government to enforce those rules.
It’s a problem with enforcement
I was going to say that in the original comment, but left it out to evade the moderator software 🙂
The park only a block from my home is infested with homeless derelicts, druggies and other assorted criminals. I’ve met a lot of chicks there, though. You’re right about the worst elements. Except for the chicks.
I looked it up online and it was a grand park back in the day. St James Park. It has lots of problems now but I’ve met a lot of hot homeless chicks there. I’m not picky. Hot is hot and I make them take showers when they come over. Most of them are glad to but some of my neighbors in the building are offended when I tell them to.
Chicks. They’re predictable and unpredictable at the same time. I have to have them, though.
My neighbours. I have to tell them I don’t want to double dip but they’re too proud to shower first. They think their pussies don’t stink but they do.
Jeff Bargholz:
Dude, really? Surely you can do better than that! Dipping your wick in skanks is bad for your health
“Can” and “Should” are two different things. I just can’t. I have to do it. Thank God for the free condoms I get from the support agency in my apartment building. They always laugh when they see how many I grab. I’m not getting any crotch rot. Fuck that shit. Homeless, crazy, retarded, I don’t give a shit. If they look good, that’s good enough for me.
Jeff, my friend, find yourself a wife, have children and a wonderful life. You might be happy now but it won’t last. You always make me smile though.
Good advice I guess but I’m never getting married again. Twice was two times too many. I think all the good chicks are already married. I did marry a widow the second time, though. She’s a nice person but an annoying retard. I should’ve held on to her. She has a nice fat ass.
No love for the Donna Summer version?!
When I read about the Karen Bass clown show I wonder if that were The MacArthur park. The Lord has blessed me I no longer envy people who live in places like Portland, or California. I don’t covet a new Ford Bronco, because the engines fail a low mileage. The grass is pretty green where I’m at.
MS-13 will adapt.
If the pressure keeps up in El Salvador and the US, maybe the squeeze play will be MS-13’s undoing.?
WTF? I have an imposter?
Mayor Bassackwards.
Jeeeesh what a stupid song. I could only take two minutes of it.
It was a big hit in the Psychedelic 60s 🙂
So was “Do You Know the Way to San Jose” by Dion Warwick. Although maybe that was the seventies.
I live in San Jose and can attest that she was better off away.
Yeah, I often sing that song in my head for some reason.
Yeah, me too. I have a lot of them in my head. Some of them from the Safeway supermarket I shop at. That elevator music sticks in my head. What can you do?
Most of the songs are bad so it’s irritating.
Truly DISGUSTING how the left protects and promotes the most insane policies and groups! One day it might end but it might take either a massive Judicial Ruling to stop the insanity or some other measure not as pleasant!
Kareless BassHole is up for lunatic demoncrap of the year with Gruesome NewScum neck and neck – AOC is plain boring stupid – these two dipshits in California always some new bull.
I saw videos with Professor Dan at LAX and I thought he was visiting LA. Apparently our esteemed Prof Dan is a resident. I thought Dan is a New Yorker – so much for my first assumptions on this.
I lived in LA County until 2017 when I retired and moved outta the state.
I miss the ocean and the Pacific coast but that’s about it.
MacArthur Park gets cleaned out and cleaned up but before long it’s filled with the worst elements that no parent or guardian can accompany their child to play in what? Spent syringes and empty booze bottles and filth and crime.
Does MacArthur Park still have those paddle boats? I might have gone on them as a child in 1950’s to early 1960’s Los Angeles. Paddle boats were a common casual amusement back then.
After the LA County fires that wiped out 80% of the Pacific Palisades, also one of my stomping grounds and the riots allowed by illegal aliens, hopefully California voters will wake up? Or am I seeing a flock of flying turtles overhead?
And if Richard Harris isn’t you’re cup of tea, you can try this alternative version: “Jurassic Park” by Weird Al. It’s probably pretty close description to the current park.
Macarthur’s Park is a pit for drug addicts. I have been there, but not for the park. Situated on one corner of the park is Langer’s Delicatessen, an LA institution with pastrami to die for!
I was born and raised in L.A. and can say with absolute certainty that MacArthur Park and the neighborhood it’s in has always been predominantly Hispanic for as far back as I can remember.
In the 60s and 70s the entire area was dominated by the Mexican gang known as the Cholos. Drugs weren’t the only thing illegal sold in that area. It was also where illegals went to purchase fake California drivers license and where thieves went to fence stolen merchandise.
Back then the Cholos were vicious enough that the black L.A. gangs steered clear of them and the LAPD were leery of them (the Cholos didn’t think twice about shooting at the police.)
The black gangs usually steer clear of the Hispanic gangs.
Yes, because the beaners will kill them. Bragadoccio only goes so far. Compton isn’t the “hood” anymore and hasn’t been in a long time. It’s Mexiican.
There is no black “hood” in San Jose. The only one here was was replaced by…….you guessed it…… Mexicans
I have to give those beaners credit. They stick together and will come at you in numbers if you fuck with them.
Yes, I admire their fighting skill. I try to trace ii back to Spain, etc. After driving the Muslims out of Spain after 700 years or so of fighting they were the best infantry in the world. Then they came to the New World and overran everything. Somehow there was some fusion of the Spanish invaders and the indigenous fighters but I haven’t figured that part out. Later the wars involving Pancho Villa and his pal who’s name I always forget were mind boggling.
Now we have the Mexican Cartels who make the Muslims look tame.
I’m a Cantor’s fan. Never liked downtown.
Well, just a word about MacArthur’s brilliant island hopping strategy, a case of strategic genius.
And MacArthur wanted to nuke North Korea. That pussy bite Truman fired him, as you know. The world would be a better place today if Mac had his way. I think he wanted to nuke China, too. Again, the world would be a better place.
And he did very well in WWII.
Yeah, I think about that often. Bugs me so much.
Karen Bass is as essential to good governance in LA, as is a fish riding a bicycle….and just as effective.
Good governance? The people in LA don’t want good governance. If they did they would’ve never voted for that ignorant incompetent Bass b*tch. They deserve who and what they voted vote and deserve to get it good & hard.
Good & hard as in: bend over and spread them cheeks and let the city government “service” it’s constituents.
I’m glad I don’t live in LA. San Jose is bad enough.
Nothing makes leftists happier than gazing upon the fruits of their labor from their ivory towers and gates communities(like Mrs. Walz opening the windows so she could hear the gunshots and smell the burning tires during the riots). The fruits being drug addiction, crime, poverty, familial and societal breakdown. It really pisses them off when someone comes along and cleans it all up and sets things right.
MacArthur park is proof that Oakland is growing.
