Biden, or the guys and gals pulling his strings, couldn’t think of a better time to appoint a top banking regulator who wanted to destroy the oil and gas industry than when gas prices are already horrifyingly high.
Until, once again, Senator Manchin stepped in to save Biden and his party from themselves.
After Manchin came out against Sarah Bloom Raskin’s appointment as the Fed’s vice chair for supervision, the Biden administration insisted that it was going to keep pushing her nomination, only for Raskin to withdraw.
This little piece of Kabuki theater is how administrations pull a nominee without infuriating their backers too much. Or at least their less politically connected fanbases who don’t know how things are actually done in D.C.
Raskin, who had talked about exploiting the Fed to crush and the domestic oil and gas industry, leaving us dependent on Chinese solar panels and Islamic and Russian oil, was the worst nominee at the worst possible time. It’s a tribute to how much of a death grip lefties have on Biden that this even happened.
Biden functions as a ‘Prisoner of the Kremlin’ routinely pushing forward completely lunatic appointees, but this is a nomination that Republicans would have happily hung around his neck, only to have Manchin step in and save Biden and the Dems from themselves.
But Manchin can’t keep doing it forever and while he is a crucial vote, he’s only one vote.
The Dems are determined to destroy themselves and the country. Manchin isn’t going to be able to stop them every time.
