Over 1,000 Muslims who visited the apartheid state of Saudi Arabia during the Islamic ‘Haj’ pilgrimage to the origins of the colonial movement perished in the heat. While Muslims die every ‘Haj’, this is a fairly large death toll.
And it’s being blamed on “climate change”.

Saudi Arabia is hot in June. That’s on average already the hottest time of the year. When the average high is 111, it’s completely possible for temperatures to occasionally pass 120, as they reportedly did.
And it’s always been hot.
It’s so hot that Islam’s legendary warlord founder Mohammed commented on it. “Whoever bears one hour of Mecca’s heat during daytime, the fire of Hell moves away from him a distance of a hundred year’s march, and Paradise approaches him by a distance of a hundred year’s march.”
That’s a nice way of comparing Mecca to hell.
Joseph Pitts, the first Englishman to visit Mecca after being captured and enslaved by Muslims, described heat so extreme that residents “felt compelled to dart back and forth across the street to escape it.”
Lawrence of Arabia described it as a “very hot town” without “trees or running water.”
Mecca has always been miserably hot in the summer.
What actually killed over 1,000 Muslims? It wasn’t global warming, as usual it was their fellow Muslims.
While registered pilgrims are transported around the shrines in air-conditioned buses and rest in air-conditioned tents, undocumented ones are often exposed to the elements, making them more vulnerable to extreme heat. Some pilgrims this year described watching people faint and passing bodies in the street as temperatures hit 120 degrees or higher.
On Sunday, in an interview on state television, the Saudi health minister, Fahd al-Jalajel, said that 83 percent of the more than 1,300 deaths occurred among pilgrims who had not had official permits.
His sister died midway through the pilgrimage, but when he contacted the tour company, it assured him that she was fine. When the company representative learned that her relatives knew about her death, he turned off his phone, Mr. al-Tawab said.
It’s not the climate, it’s the social climate that allows Muslims to do things like this to each other.

Sir Richard Burton managed to sneak into the haj in disguise during the 1800s, as described in one of his books.
Burton did! He was so cool. Another guy did too, although I don’t remember his name. He also wrote a book about it. Burton was very good with languages and the other guy was very good at disguising himself.

If you haven’t read them, I recommend “The Epic Of Gilgamesh,” By whoever wrote that on a cuneiform tablet back in truly ancient Uruk or whatever the fuck city state it was, and “An Unsocial Socialist” by George Bernard Shaw. And anything by Joseph Conrad, of course. I’m sure an educated and well read guy like you has Read “Heart of Darkness” which was his finest, but my favorite is his short story entitled “The Secret Sharer.” It’s a great story.
Oh, and the speculative fiction series “The River world” and other novels by Philip Jose Farmer. Sir Francis was the main protagonist and Farmer presented as a super cool guy. He out sword fighted Cyrano De’Bergerac, led the discovery of the Rive World and a bunch of other cool stuff. I think you’d like it.

Exactly which climate has changed? Deserts are still hot and arid. The tropics are still hot and wet. The temperate zones are still temperate. (Except in Winter but that happens every year.) The poles are still frozen solid. No climate on Earth has changed.

Here’s something even a five year old can figure out. Is the CO2 level historically high or low? It’s at 400 ppm. All life on earth is extinguished when it gets down to 200 ppm. The Muslims really need to come up with a better calendar, one that schedules the haj pilgrimage in a cooler season. As it is, because it’s lunar based, their holidays will shift throughout the year. The Jewish calendar, which also has a lunar component, is actually a solar/lunar hybrid, with corrections within a complex 19-year cycle – including leap *months* – to make sure holidays come in the right season.
How about a Harry Carrey calendar. Mark every month with the best times to commit Harry Carrey for alah. Mothers one month father s the next…. Just keep going and going until there is no one left to wear overly large black frame glasses.
