To mildly paraphrase Inigo Montoya, “Authoritarianism, you use that word a lot. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
A few years ago, “authoritarianism” seemed to have become the default lefty media meme. They couldn’t really define what they meant by authoritarianism except that it involved strong leaders whose politics they disagreed with. (Strong leaders whose politics they agreed with were still awesome.)
The awesome new public-private partnership has yielded this awesome New York mag headline, “DeSantis’s Threats to Disney Is What Post-Trump Authoritarianism Looks Like.”
If “authoritarianism” is elected officials doing what voters want them to (even a majority of Democrats support the Parental Rights Bill) instead of doing what corporations tell them to, then logically anti-authoritarianism must be doing what corporations tell you to.
And so we’ve arrived right back to 1984 and Slavery is Freedom.
