Governor Cuomo of New York is a master at playing the media. This is a guy who used the media to edge his black and blind predecessor. But the media also needed Cuomo for a very particular reason.
The media needed to attack President Trump over his handling of the pandemic. And to do that it needed an example of a Democrat who was doing a great job.
Cuomo’s obsessive publicity-mongering, his dishonest press conferences, and theatrics combined, paradoxically, with the devastating effect of the pandemic on New York, made him a perfect fit for a premade narrative that contrasted Cuomo’s handling of the pandemic with Trump’s handling of it.
(This was a potentially game-changing campaign issue had the Republicans used it during the election.)
The Cuomosexuals of the media were using Cuomo just as he was using them. And Cuomo got a free ride. Until Biden came into office and then the media no longer needed Cuomo. It’s why New York’s AG decided to kneecap him and why the media is running a few belated stories about his mismanagement of the pandemic.
Cuomo has outlived his usefulness. He’s now just another old white politician who isn’t ‘progressive’ enough and isn’t a minority.
The media has no interest in keeping him around forever. And they have even less interest in his lifelong dream of getting to the White House. And so the inevitable next stage begins in which Cuomo gets hammered in the hopes that he’ll step down for whichever black female lefty the media actually wants.
Or maybe they can drag AOC into Albany. It’s implausible, but Warnock and Ossoff are in the Senate. So never say, never.
Either way, Cuomo’s time is past and his reckoning is coming. If President Trump were in the White House, the outbreak of media Cuomosexuality would continue. Without that, he’s still going to get the velvet glove treatment at CNN because he’s family. But the local and national media will slowly turn on him.
Under President Trump, Cuomo was used as a positive contrast. Under Biden, he’s more likely to be a cautionary tale.
