What fuels the media in the Trump era?
1. The media baits resistance lefties with the promise that this latest development will destroy Trump
2. The failure to deliver is blamed on yet more conspiracy theories involving Trump’s evil
Let’s take a look at how this works in two trending media hit piece headlines surrounding Hope Hicks’ testimony
She stopped returning some of Trump’s calls. Now Hope Hicks is testifying behind closed doors — CNN
‘It’s a farce’: Dems livid as Hope Hicks dodges questions – Politico
The anticipation of victory. The agony of defeat. The perspiration of conspiracism.
Of course the media didn’t actually expect anything to come of this. CNN, one of the worst conspiracist offenders, just dangled the bait out there, “She stopped returning some of Trump’s calls”, to suggest that a major development was coming.
Which of course it didn’t.
“She stopped returning some of Trump’s calls” is a masterpiece of conspiracist meaninglessness. I don’t return everybody’s calls either. But not returning some of somebody’s calls is the most meaningless phrase imaginable.
Hicks didn’t stop returning Trump’s calls. She didn’t return all of them. In other words, she’s a human being, not a machine. And not all calls need returning anyway. Especially from POTUS.
But frenzied resistance members aren’t expected to read and process the meaning, but to believe, one more time, that this is it.
Sorry, no. The media played you again.
