There are two fake news things going on here.
1. The media has gotten into the lazy habit of reporting stories based on social media.
2. It ignores actual anti-Semitism, Farrakhan, Ellison, Omar, Sarsour, Sharpton, and Hamas, because those are inconvenient, and instead reports on nonsense like this.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED ANTI-SEMITIC RANT ON PLANE FOUGHT WITH THREE OFFICERS AT AIRPORT – Newsweek
I’m singling out Newsweek because it’s particularly stupid.
Like the previous Fiddler on the Roof anti-Semitic incident that wasn’t, this is a case of people misinterpreting events, posting video out of context, an then the media running a fake news story.
The man in question is Jewish. His name, which I’m posting because it’s been widely shared and this could help dismiss some of the fake news, is David Toaff. He may have been asking Jews to raise their hands because he was seeking a minyan, a quorum for prayer. It’s unclear what’s going on because video clips of someone arguing with an officer are usually not very helpful.
And in case, that’s not the point.
The point is that the media doesn’t get anti-Semitism. It’s not a clip of somebody behaving stupidly. It’s an ongoing atmosphere of intimidation, harassment and hate.
And the media remains one of the biggest vectors of anti-Semitism because it pushes the agendas of the anti-Semitic movements of the Left.
