While some #MeToo cases have been ambiguous, the scandal that brought down Senator Franken was as in the Bill Cosby/Harvey Weinstein territory.
There were 8 accusers, one of whom had a photo showing what happened. The victims included Franken fans and a member of a feminist choir. The accusations came through lefty outlets like the Huffington Post, CNN and Jezebel.
But, Democrats, especially lefties, backed Franken. And in Franken’s corner were some mega-donors, including George Soros, the guy who practically owns the Democrats. Those donors resent 2020 female candidates who called for Franken to step down and have made that resentment public.
Now Pete Buttigieg, the most insincere candidate in the 2020 race, is pandering to Soros and his ilk by backing Franken.
Democratic presidential hopeful and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg said on Monday that he would not have pressured former Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) to resign until lawmakers had more information when Franken was facing sexual misconduct allegations in 2017.
“I think it was his decision to make, but I think the way we basically held him to a higher standard than the GOP does their people has been used against us,” Buttigieg told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews at a town hall in Fresno, Calif.
There were 8 accusers. There’s a photo.
Politicians have had to resign for a lot less than that.
What Buttigieg is really saying is that he’s siding with Franken over the women he groped. And that’s fine. It’s his position. And if he ever tries to go after Trump over sexual issues, he can be punched with his pandering.
And since Buttigieg has tried to make hay out of his military time, this one should also be wrapped around his campaign.
Kemplin, an Army veteran, told CNN in a story published on Thursday that Franken allegedly groped her in December 2003. She said she was stationed in Kuwait, and she met Franken when he toured with the USO. She said that Franken groped her right breast while the two took a photo.
“I remember clenching up and how you just feel yourself flushed,” she told CNN. “And I remember thinking — is he going to move his hand? Was it an accident? Was he going to move his hand? He never moved his hand.”
This is what Buttigieg supports.
