Not long ago, the monsters were kept sealed up tight somewhere. Just a few decades ago, western values maintained the international order. But when the monsters escape, as they did on October 7, the monsters go after Jews.
Western values that governed international and domestic norms are being replaced by chaos and authoritarianism around the world, as well as here at home.
First Israel. What makes October 7 so sinister is that the monsters went after Jews in their place of ultimate sanctuary – Israel. They dragged them from their homes and murdered them in Israel instead of Berlin’s Scheunenviertel, the long vanished Jewish quarter, or any of the sites of other pogroms across history.
October 7 was different and illustrated how precarious Israel’s existence is.
The monsters seem to be on the loose around the globe, even in Europe. In eastern Europe the postwar international order is under attack, where even recognized international borders are meaningless.
Perhaps the very term “postwar” no longer has currency. Perhaps we are so far removed from that war which governed so much about the last eight decades – including Israel’s right to exist – that the term “postwar” is obsolete.
The West seems to have forgotten the lessons of 1914 or 1939. Land for peace is back in vogue, despite always being a fool’s gambit – whether in the West Bank, Sudetenland or Donetsk.
Few in the West seem to understand how close to the cliff we are. Too many are too busy staring at their phones.
The only western-style democracy in the middle east is in an existential fight for survival. Meanwhile, domestic anti-Semites are raiding private homes of noted Jewish law professors and bullying students on campus who support Israel’s right to exist.
Initially firmly supporting Israel, since October 7 the radicals who staff this administration – whether at the State Department, White House or Department of Defense – have asserted their influence. Support for Israel in the executive branch is withering.
Meanwhile, the leader of a nuclear Russia is shouting caviler threats to use those nukes against NATO nations, openly and explicitly, and seemingly seriously.
At last we can confidently say that the west European peace movement of the 1970s and 1980s were actually Moscow front groups. Remember the millions who marched in Bonn, Paris and London in 1983 against the deployment of American Pershing missiles? Nuclear annihilation would befall the human race after NATO’s deployment of intermediate range missiles in West Germany, they warned.
Where are the European rallies now against Putin’s actual nuclear threats?
Why aren’t the peace activists of 1983 not marching in the streets again in Bonn, Paris and London? What of stooges like Jo Leinen who spoke in front of 100,000 other useful idiots in 1983 in Bonn proclaiming the Euro-peace movement would save Europe from the nuclear cowboy Ronald Reagan?
Another peace celebrity from 1983, German politician and Moscow stooge Oskar Lafontaine recently blamed the United States for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The silence of the European peace movement today makes it rather obvious who was buttering their bread back in the eighties.
Of course, if the west had the same spine it had in 1983, the world would be a safer place. But the Left has taken care of that.
American schools teach children to hate America. For good measure, schools tell children that bedrock civilizational and biological structures like gender are mere constructs. Racial hatred toward “people of color” explains the last 300 years. And the police are now the problem, so they teach.
If you were a top security officer in Moscow or Beijing back in 1992 after the collapse of communism, you could hardly cook up a better comeback plan than what we read in the news every day.
I recently counted 30 Black Lives Matters signs hanging in the windows of just one side of the engineering building at a large public university. That was just one half, of one building – and engineering for heaven’s sake!
To further deconstruct the country, the Left has terminated the use of data and merit in college admissions by rebranding test scores as tools of oppression. Swarms of students, sometimes with fists raised in the air, accept terms like “structural racism” and spout pronoun orthodoxy when you meet them like youngsters in other places long ago snapped off salutes.
NATO militaries now offer sex change surgery to new recruits. Mutilation of children is commonplace at major American hospitals. Male and female are fluid, and the available manpower – (can I use that word anymore?) – to defend the West shrinks.
The Left has succeeded in slowing the development of American oil, coal and gas production, the energy that enabled America to win World War 2. Meanwhile, China and Russia laugh.
Some of you will read this and consider me, your author, crazy. Have at me. But answer this, is this the strong post-war America that guided the world to prosperity and unparalleled human achievement in the 20th Century? Are we capable of what our grandparents accomplished defeating evil? Have at me. Do you know enough history to know where your opposing ideas always end up?
It gets worse. Our universities and rotted Ivy League law schools offer courses that deconstruct American legal norms. Law professors nowadays openly advocate for the repeal of the Constitution on the opinion pages of the Washington Post.
Shakespeare wrote “let’s kill all the lawyers.” I’m more worried about all the academics and professors who created this mess than the lawyers they schooled to sustain it.
Two things stand out. As goes Israel, so goes the West. Israel is the canary in the mine. If western powers cannot preserve one of the few nations conceived from a moral imperative, rising from the bloodbath of World War 2, then what else is worth preserving?
Second, the structures, the culture, the tools that kept the peace for the last eight decades seem to be reaching life cycle, if not are altogether gone.
Institutions that created the prosperity and peace have been destroyed or are suffering lethal attack – even the traditional “nuclear family.” Long ago the monsters reduced that institution to an object of derision and mockery in our culture. Two parent families are now a form of white privilege. Leave it to Beaver, Donna Reed and Father Knows Best became Stepford Wives, Parasite and Handmaidens. Hollywood reduced the strong family to ridicule, or killed it off.
We are paying the price in our streets, where 12-year-old girls gleefully stomp an old man in a wheelchair to death.
When the monsters of October 7 are unleashed against Israel, other monsters across the globe smile, then snarl, and devour the rest of what is blessed and good.

America has interfered with foreign governments for decades, sometimes with great results but mostly not.
To suggest that Russia is, today, the enemy of the free market is a mistake.
The enemy, as you have suggested, is within, and it is within the globalist agenda not Russia.
The constant bickering between America and Russia helps NATO fund the military industrial complex.
Great point. Far too many Americans think it’s okay for the US to go around the world interfering in other countries business while we fail to take care of business here at home. Moreover, those same Americans don’t see the globalist agenda as a threat to America and that’s assuming they even understand what the globalist threat is. Most don’t.
Blaming Russia for all the world’s ills is a trite anachronism that has diminishing relevancy in today’s world. Moreover, what’s amazing to me is that people are quick to point the finger at Russia but are largely silent when it comes to China and the Chicoms. I have a pretty good idea why that is…….
Excellent column. Even Helen Keller could see that all this deconstruction the Left is pushing is intended to destroy the U.S. I would, however, point out one ray of hope. A number of prestigious universities are reinstating a requirement that applicants take the SAT or ACT. Whether they’ll actually use them in admissions and return to being meritocratic institutions remains to be seen.

Ive wondered where the American men are? Or women, for that matter? I thought we were 1776ers, pioneers, cowboys, greatest generation war heroes, and rock and rollers? Why do we do nothing in the face of overt corruption, vote fraud, race hatred for white, straight, and female people? Are we not sickened by gender bending weirdness that ruins sports and surgically and chemically deforms children’s bodies? And did we not win a war against Jew-hating and mass-murdering Nazis? Why are butchered Jews and swastikas now acceptable and trendy ? Does no one in the United States care?

One slight disagreement. So far, it does seem that people like Victor Orban and Douglas MacGregor do make good arguments, when interviewed by Tucker Carlson, along with the historian john Mearsheimer, that question our involvement in the Ukraine mess, and share the blame over several actors, including us. People can hate Putin, but, as of yet, I have not heard any good responses to them from people on the military/congressional complex pro-war side. I do, however, question MacGregor’s seeming lack of support for Israel, although he might disagree with that take on what he has said.
McGregor is anti-Israel and anti-Semitic, therefore. Carlson and he were utterly disgraceful in their interview close after 10/7 where they spouted lies and distortions about Israel and did a Pallywood slide show to evoke up sympathy for “palestinian” children when Israeli ;children had just been slaughtered, burned alive, beheaded, cut from mothers bodies during gang rape murder and killed in front of parents and parents killed in front of them.
Just recently, Carlson blamed Jews for the experience of Christians in Bethlehem. When it is run by muslims, a widely known fact.
Jew-hate defies facts and decency. It is time to find new heroes.
I just wonder what MacGregor thinks Israel should do? Anything? And I have an old college friend, who is proudly Jewish (and oroudly progressive!) who seems to hate Israel, and despises the IDF. Meanwhile, I watch the TBN videos of all the Hamas tunnels, and all those wasted millions. It appears that Israel, despite some mistakes, is doing pretty well at minimizing civilian deaths.
I’m not to keen on sophistry, I like to cut the crap and get straight to the point. In this matter, the end game.
So I ask: once the sovereign country of Israel and it’s citizens have been wiped from the face of the earth, who’s next? There is always a next. And I’m 100% certain that the Jew haters have another group in mind once all the Jew have all been exterminated.

Pretty weak argument Chaya on Jews not bearing responsibility. Who’s in power ? Who did nothing to stop it? Inferring the Christians are responsible is a bit like saying the Jews are responsible for the weather. It’s another powerless minority being screwed because two groups hate them and gang up on them. That was the only kernel of truth in the disgusting interview that Carlson did. The last thing anybody should be talking about is “respect for the higher moral plane.”
I’m getting so I don’t trust anyone. I can understand an interviewer being neutral and passive, but Carlson disgraced himself. I don’t think he’s an antisemite and maybe it was a shallow moment, but it’s hard to trust him now.
MacGregor is clearly biased against Israel and Ukraine. Tucker is non-interventionist to the point of isolationalist and accepting anti-Semitic interviewees.
Matthew 24:3-15 explains all the birth pains that the world is going through. These are signs that will not be reversed, just like a woman in labor. God’s judgment is coming, thats what the Tribulation is all about, especially for this corrupt-sinful world.
I love how these University professors teach their students that Western Civilization is racist, sexist and the worst thing in history and that all vestiges of Western Civilization must be destroyed.
Except for their tenured positions and their six figure salaries of course.
When a nation country society culture becomes depraved psychopathic … goes berserk …. such as America is now,
it is only a question of when, not whether, the Great Apocalypse strikes in full force and the entire society and nation
