We agree with Mr. Klein. President Trump has been and is a friend to Israel in many significant ways. Donald Trump promised more than 15,000 people at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, (APAIC) that if elected President, he would take the executive action necessary to relocate the embassy to Jerusalem, and said it would be a high priority, and he followed through on his promise. Israel is the only country in the world where the U.S. Embassy was not situated in the capital, close to the center of governmental affairs, In fact, virtually all embassies are situated outside Jerusalem as a bold statement that the countries they represent refuse to recognize Jerusalem as the Capital of the Jewish state. Time for a Change indeed. The State Department advised President Truman against recognizing the new State of Israel in 1948, but Truman disagreed, and he demonstrated leadership and courage by bestowing American recognition on the Jewish state 11 minutes after it declared statehood. We don’t see such courage in the present administration today.
Several candidates made similar promises when they were running for office. And conveniently forgot about the promise as soon as they were inaugurated.
President Trump was the only one to keep his promise. And those who bashed him for it forget that the law mandating the move to Jerusalem passed with bipartisan support.
US Government decided not to locate Embassy in Jerusalem. Then, the US Government decided to locate Embassy in Jerusalem. The Sun still rises everyday.
Trump reminds us that culturally, traditionally, spiritually, the United States has always been linked to Israel, and therefore that he is not a decadent, but on the side of success and ethics. On the side of light and not of darkness.
President Trump did what was right, fair, and other Presidents should have done the same thing.
