Wasn’t it last week or so that the Democrats were claiming that President Trump was a pawn of Putin? Sure they couldn’t show a single policy he implemented that favored Russia. Instead, the Trump administration was tough on Russia and tore up worthless agreements that Moscow had been cheating on.
Now that Moscow Joe’s in town, the reset button is being hit once again. And it’s time to crawl back into the same scam appeasement deals.
Biden will seek a five-year extension of the New START nuclear arms control pact with Russia before it expires on Feb. 5, senior officials told the Washington Post…
The Trump administration was skeptical of New START, arguing that it had allowed Russia to build up advanced nuclear systems that aren’t constrained by the treaty. Trump’s arms control envoy, Marshall Billingslea, had also insisted that China be brought into the arms control process. Billingslea attempted to negotiate a shorter-term extension of New START, paired with a freeze on all nuclear warheads and a commitment to broaden future talks to include other nuclear powers.
That would have made far more sense. But it’s not a surprise because Biden had already promised, even before taking office, to do a five-year renewal. No negotiations. No demands that Moscow at least offer better accountability.
It was a gift to Putin with nothing in return from a political party that has been falsely accusing President Trump of being in bed with Russia.
In Washington, national security adviser Robert O’Brien told a forum that the Trump administration agrees on the timeline for an extension but renewed its demand Moscow also agree to a one-year freeze of its entire stockpile, including classes of nuclear weapons that are not covered by the treaty.
But he also acknowledged that Russia may be biding its time to see who wins the presidential election before accepting any American demands.
Former Vice President Joe Biden has said he would be willing to extend New START the full five years permitted under the treaty, without preconditions, and begin work on a follow-on pact.
China and Russia won. All of our enemies did. And America lost. Now they’re collecting their winnings from Beijing Biden and Moscow Joe who goes by a thousand names and sleeps in a thousand beds with all of our enemies.
President Trump was tough on Russia. Biden is appeasing Moscow just like Obama did.
In his first year, Obama began the push to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. CTBT would have allowed the Russians (and everyone else) to build up their nuclear arsenals while crippling our own. The new START treaty was drafted in ’09 and signed next year. And Russian violations of it were ignored.
It took a new administration to change that.
In his first phone call with Putin, President Trump blasted the START treaty as a bad deal that gave Moscow a free ride. Next month, the Pentagon officially came out and said what everyone knew.
This was a sharp contrast with the previous administration which had refused to detail Russian violations. It falsely claimed that it couldn’t answer the question because “the New START treaty forbids releasing to the public data and information obtained during implementation of the treaty.”
The Russians couldn’t have been too surprised at Trump holding their feet to the fire. Trump had blasted the START treaty during the third presidential debate. That was the same debate where Hillary Clinton had accused Trump of being Putin’s “puppet”.
Now the START treaty will come back and the Biden regime will sign even worse treaties that sell out our national security. Why? Because there’s a good basis for an alliance between Communists from different parts of the world.
“The Democratic Party is traditionally closer to the so-called liberal values, closer to social democratic ideas,” Putin said. “And it was from the social democratic environment that the Communist Party evolved.”
“After all, I was a member of the Soviet Communist Party for nearly 20 years” Putin added. “I was a rank-and-file member, but it can be said that I believed in the party’s ideas. I still like many of these left-wing values. Equality and fraternity. What is bad about them? In fact, they are akin to Christian values.”
“Yes, they are difficult to implement, but they are very attractive, nevertheless. In other words, this can be seen as an ideological basis for developing contacts with the Democratic representative.”
The ideological basis is here.
