The big post-election question (which I will be discussing in tonight’s FPM+ Town Hall) is how the Left is going to react to the election. Will it be a repeat of Trump Term 1, worse or better?
While my instinctual pessimism points to door number worse, there are signs that this time around the Dems are in freefall and the Left has trouble mounting any kind of meaningful counter. A key variable may be that there is a lack of energy or desire on the part of the leftist base to do it all again.
Consider this to be a data point.
“The Rachel Maddow Show,” the liberal network’s highest-rated program, drew 1.3 million viewers on Monday, about a million shy of her October average, according to Nielsen. In a crucial ratings metric — viewers under the age of 54 — it was the least-watched edition of the show since April 2022.
That performance mirrors much of what has been happening at MSNBC in the week since Mr. Trump’s election win. MSNBC has averaged 550,000 viewers since Election Day, a 39 percent decline compared with the network’s average in October. In prime time, MSNBC’s audience has declined 53 percent, according to the Nielsen data.
The opposite has happened at Fox News, MSNBC’s conservative rival. Fox’s audience in prime time has grown 21 percent since last Wednesday, with an average of 3.3 million viewers, according to Nielsen. Its total day audience has jumped 38 percent.
During the Trump administration Part 1, I documented how the media had grown rich and fat on Trump hatred. If the opposite thing is happening this time around, it would be a positive sign.
Some media people are saying that they’re burned out and it seems a bunch of media viewers are burned out too by the endless doom.
Now all of this could be a temporary low before they rebound again, more furious than ever, but people have their limitations. And even Alinsky warned that you can only push the same button so many times. The button, at least for now, appears to be squishy and on the way to breaking.

Good piece, Daniel. Door number worse is actually Fox News. The new CNN.

In the case of Nielsen ratings (to the best of my knowledge; but not so in many other cases … e.g., check out the book, “How to Lie With Statistics”), the numbers don’t lie. You have a solid right to your opinion, and I’d agree with saying that Fox News is less than it was before they removed their #1 nightly guy, Tucker Carlson (Mark Levin has always [since the inception of Life, Liberty and Levin] been #1 overall) and sidelined Steve Hilton, but in this case I’d have to say your opinion is dead wrong. Fox News/Fox Business News are still way ahead of the pack (especially the FNM) in honest, most-accurate reporting and political opinion. During the James Comey hearings (years ago), I did a semi-professional (being limited to one worker, me) audit of about 4 or 5 FNM “news” programs and Fox News. I was an ASQ-certified auditor from ~1988 to ~2016. I’m not, now, since you have to recertify every 3 years. I watched all or essentially all of the CSPAN coverage over, as I recall, 3 days, and took as many notes as I could on what I thought were important points that should be reported. A couple of the FNM shows were eliminated as obviously dishonest and/or inaccurate with just a couple of samplings. I clearly remember “The Rachel Maddow Show” as being the worst, and dropping it from the audit list only took two samples (on separate and, as I recall, sequential evenings) of ~10 minutes each (the 2nd one may have been only 5 – 10). There was only one poor show on Fox News, and that was because he apparently was taking his notes from the FNM or their sources for some of the things he covered, rather than from the hearings themselves. Of course, various reporters reported on things I didn’t take notes on and didn’t recall (or didn’t clearly recall), so those weren’t part of the audit. Bottom line, all of the suspected FNM (based upon comments I had heard and/or clips I had seen on Fox News) proved out to be fake news media, and the one guy on Fox News that did poorly (but better than any of the FNM shows I had audited) later left Fox News.

P.S. – A minor tweak, for clarification: “… since you have to recertify every 3 years, and I’ve been retired since then.”

1.3 million out of a population of 350 million legal residents and (probably) 60 million illegal aliens? That’s not exactly a ratings success.
America hates the lefties.

I hope this is the case.
This is why we have to kick them while they’re down. Show no mercy whatsoever. Obstruct everything they stand for. Destroy their businesses. Humiliate them at every opportunity.
They tried to destroy the principles our country was founded upon. Now it’s time to make them pay. If you don’t agree, get out of our way.

As Bongino says, the Trump people are hitting the Left with a fresh provocation daily, and not even giving them time to react. It’s glorious and funny to watch.

If it’s true that they’re following the Saul Alinsky playbook, which is pretty much Satan’s playbook, that may be an appropriate response, and one I would probably advocate, BTW. OTOH, however, I believe we should try to get as many of them saved from everlasting agony in the pit of Hell as possible. Just sayin’, and scripture backs me up (e.g., All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is none who are righteous, no, not one. God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world, but that they might be saved. He paid a price we could not pay, and a debt he did not owe. For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him [for salvation] shall have everlasting life.). I can’t guarantee those are word-for-word correct, but I believe they’re pretty close to accurate. So, yes, we should do what we need to do to save America, but part of America is giving grace, where/when possible. God’s grace is immeasurable, but he is a just and righteous God. The wrath He poured out upon His Son, who was WITHOUT sin, and therefore the only one who could pay our debt, caused him to be so disfigured he was hardly recognizable as a human being (Isaiah 52:14, NIV, NCV, ICB … these translations make the most sense, IMHO, but, full disclosure, others are quite different; check it out for yourself at biblegateway.com)

MSM is quickly becoming irrelevant. The only viewers are over 80, beltline types, or independent media that spend a lot of time reacting to them. Once RFK pulls the pharma adverts they will disappear.

Hopefully, that will be the case … or equivalent.
