Leftist abuses go through three steps.
1. Denial – It never happened
2. Bargaining – Even if it happened, it was very different
3. Acceptance – It’s no big deal and everyone does it
Here’s CNN hitting the third stage with Garagegate.
Washington’s little secret: ‘Spillage’ of classified information is a common occurrence – CNN
Remember that thing we were screaming our heads off about? It’s actually nothing to be outraged about.
George Orwell famously coined “Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia” in response to the Western Communist pivot on Nazi Germany. During the Hitler-Stalin pact, commies had been militant anti-war activists. When Hitler stabbed Stalin in the back and invaded the USSR, they became militantly pro-war.
Anyway, back to CNN, “what is known in intelligence circles as “classified spillage” is, in fact, incredibly common, according to former intelligence officials and attorneys who specialize in cases involving classified information. Most of these cases are simple mistakes that aren’t charged as crimes: a government employee accidentally takes a document home in their briefcase or fails to follow the correct protocol for handling a particular piece of information. Many of these cases are resolved with a simple conversation with the agency’s security officer, former national security officials said.”
Whew.
Having jettisoned the whole idea that possessing classified information is the problem, the goal posts have been moved to the question of ‘cooperation’.
The media claims that Biden is cooperating and Trump wasn’t. Aside from the factual problems with that, which we can go into, the bottom line is that we’ve gone right back to ‘process crimes’.
And the fact that the only charges that the Democrats can seem to generate against Trump are ‘process crimes’ is an indictment of the folks generating these ‘crimes’.
If the crime is the result of the double standard by the authorities, the only real crime is political persecution.
Rick says
If spillage is a common, ordinary occurrence, why do we need a staff at Archives?
Jeff Bargholz says
Why do we even need the archives? If Trump beats election frud in 2024 and get back into th White House, He should abolish that organization.

The Biden don’t-call-it-a-scandal scandal. Biden will be crowned a victim of the wrong-headed classification system. The documents weren’t in fact “classified/top secret.” It was a classification error. You see, no there there.
